Last week I noticed one of my 5 week old hatchery chicks had a bloody poop. She looked as if she felt bad, fluffed up and sleepy. I immediately thought of coccidiosis from reading this forum. I searched the site for treatment plans and had exactly 45 minutes to make it to the farm store to buy amprolium before they closed. All 10 chicks were given a drench dose and we are on the 4th day of treatment in their water which I will continue as instructed for 2 weeks. They have responded and all are doing fine so far. I also gave them "chick reviver" water with molasses, salt, and baking soda.
I have no fecal float test results to prove this was the problem but they are acting normal, poops appear normal, eating and drinking and running around.
If it were not for the wonderful people on this forum with their years of knowledge and experience I likely would have lost most of my chicks. Many, many thanks!!
