We've got peeping! We could hear them last night, and I heard one this morning!!

We have 3 baby chickies now

I checked at 10:00 last night and the 2nd ee had hatched...

I also too this pic. of our 1st BO Broody with her 5, 8 weeks old chickies.... Good Night Chickies

Then went out this morning and we have a black bantam... its soooo cute

Thinking the mother is our Golden sebright bantam "Goldie"

* As soon as the kids leave for school I'm going to the coop..............

I have to share with you all cause non chicken people just dont understand! lol

Our 4th egg hatched, I think its a RIR/BO mix... time will tell

* 1 itty bitty bantam egg left to hatch and it has pipped! I'll go out in a couple of hours, if I can wait that long!

aggieterpkatie - Thank You and I put my eggs under my broody Nov. 4 and they started hatching yesterday! I didnt expect them to start hatching until tomorrow or Thursday, so they are early... they were all laid the same day too. Yesterday morning I could here them peeping in their shells, no pips... then by afternoon early evening they started hatching

Question for everyone... Do you all think it makes a difference in the hatching time if you use a broody instead of a bator? Our 1st hatch, hatched early too.

Oh my stars Jen, those chicks are so cute! Doesn't your broody mind you moving her around to hold the chicks? What kind of a chicken is she? Good Momma!

Neferset, I think the critter keeper is such a good idea. Do you leave the lid open so it doesn't get too hot in there under the lights? I think I will have to try that for the ones that just need a bit more attention. What about water and food?

Jen4.. your chicks are adorable. We have all bantams, and I have 4 eggs in the bator, due to hatch on Friday. I also have two eggs under a hen due to hatch on Sat or Sun. Hope to be able to slip the bator chicks under her and she hopefully will never notice. I have put in two fake eggs so she is setting on 4 eggs. Hopefully she will take all 6 to raise.
