My little guy who pipped first? He zipped in a circle on one side of the shell and popped his head and wings out of that hole. Still screaming and flailing about trying to remove himself from the rest of the shell. Never seen a chick pip/zip like that either. It's a BSL and from what I can see so far, it looks like a girl

Have RIR that's popped the top of it's shell but still sitting in it looking around like it's not sure what to do next. The third that had it's beak out of the hole looks as if it didn't make it, no movement at all even though it's next to the one flailing about. Must have drowned, though the others so far look fine.

Total pipped at this moment:
2 silkies, 3 barnyard and one RIR/BSL
Total nearly out of shell:
1 RIR, 1 BSL

I need to just back away and quit checking on them!!!

I got home from work and have 1 dry chick in the hatcher. 1 day early. Will see what hatches tomorrow.

Ok, 1 chick out and 4 pipped. Humidity went down to59% while I was out running errands and work. Geesh it was steady until I left.

I haven't had a chance to check everyones chicks, got 4 more pies to make still. Good luck

Yes, for button quail you have to put the sporting bird starter in the blender or food processor and chop it really fine for the first week or so.​
