My TSC was completely out of chick starter/grower/layer of any kind!! So I went to another one, much farther out of my way, but a chicks gotta eat right?? LOL They had HUNDREDS of chicks, and they were $.85!! How could I resist that? We ended up with 16! 14 are RIR, 1 cornish rock, and one that looks like a mix of the rir and cr. My daughter picked them. I just couldn't believe how many they had, and people weren't even looking at them. Alot looked older though, they are starting to get little feathers already. Usually at the TSC by my house, they get the chicks in, and they're gone that day. I think 16 may have been pushing it though, because I have 14 10 day old bantams in the house too. Oh well, I figure with my luck half will be roosters anyway.

That is Nuts!!! How can a farm supply store Not have ANY chicken feed?! Oh boy, and then to find chicks for such a good price... that is temptation beyond control. Congrats on the new little ones!!!

My husband would say "better your house than ours". He asked me the other night if I was at my fill now of dogs and chickens. And I said "yes, for today. Tomorrow is another day"... The look on his face!!! ha ha ha... seriously though, I Must be good for the rest of this year. He keeps checking the brooder to confirm the counts haven't increased.

Oh I can see the obsession that could take place...(and did for you)...I am going to stay far away from TSC...LOL...I know myself all too well...yesterday I swung by the feed store and there were two lonely chicks (roughly same age as mine) sitting in the brooder (crappy one too!)

I wanted to take them and probably would have if I weren't late for picking up my son and having to get him to the swim lesson...they would of been freezing in my car for several hours (window open for air, really chilly winds) soooo there was my answer, otherwise I think they would be with me now...I would of gone back, but they were closing...

Our little Quality Foods grocery in Monroe (a smallish GA town) carries 3 types of chicken feed. TSC is right around the corner, too!
I know its country, there's half an isle of chewing tobacco (ick)

I'm waiting for my local feed store to get their Delaware in. I'm ACHING to get new babies to replace the two that I'm losing. (I'm giving away my roo that has a twisted leg with matching hen. They may already have a home lined up.) Problem is my hubby doesn't know I'm replacing them yet.

every feedstore in our area...sells baby chicks for $3 regardless of breed....I imagine after the first week or so, they'd lower the price...however, in our area there is typically a fight for chicks...LOL

$.85!!?!?! wowza!

our TSC was out of chick feed also.. you would think they could have planned a little better. did you also notice that they DONT have those really small clear bags of feed? only the huge ones?

I don't know about TSC, but our feedstore has large bags of feed and then a TON of open bins with various sizes of brown bags for you to scoop out your own, wiegh it and pay for the amount you get...it's a smidgen more that way, but you get what you want.
