Hooray! That one is looking good! The cheeping should encourage the others to get going.

Yes, in all counts. From pip to zip it can take a few hours to 24 hours (I've heard people have eggs go longer, but after 24 I would attempt an assist because I'm a meddler). My last hatch I had 4 or 5 that pushed it to around 21 hours. After they externally pip the vascular system between the egg and chick starts shutting down and the veining starts absorbing back into the membrane. This can take a long time. If you ever assist you will see that is the guide as to wether a chick is ready. If there is prominent veining still in the membrane that is why the chick hasn't hatched. It isn't ready. Usually if they are in the right position and you have adequate humidity they usually do make it out w/np interference from us.Egg no 5 is still making progress, the chick has now pierced the membrane, there's movement in the egg and some cheeping.
Egg no 1 pipped last night and nothing else has happened.
Egg no 3 has done nothing as yet.
Is this all quite normal?
Is it normal for a grown man to be this excited about hatching?![]()
