That's it! They have GOT to go!

First off I am major jealous of your weather! I still have at least 4 feet of snow in my yard and it has snowed 2 inches today- with no sign of letting up.

Ok, that is all.

LOVE IT -great job! My brooder room is an old mother in law apt out back (a real building) and I can tell you the dust is GAWD AWFUL. I dont know how anyone would brood chicks in a house! I can knock the dust off everything, use only paper (Ive tried the low dust shavings) and still OMG its AWFUL. But they stay warm and dry and Im only there to feed and water. They actually RUINED a window a/c back there last spring. I Love you idea...affordable and with some wire on the bottom could be virtually predador proof and what I love about it....AFFORABLE! Great and thanks for sharing pics!

Did something similar to this last week for my Game roo. He's still in quarentine, so hasn't used it yet, but I loved that it was simple and did it with things that I got for free mostly.

I like these so much, I've been trying to find enough supplies to do these instead of regular coops. I figure they would be easy to move when I find my own place.

clairabean, I'm jealous you have snow! I grew up in MS. We didn't get much snow but at least had seasons. Not here. But it does have it's advantages.

My roosters got in an "argument" a few days ago. The loser is in my feed shed making a mess all over my floor. I might make a full-sized one for him to recuperate in. The chicks can move into that when they get too big for the mini.

I think I might save the mini and just get more chicks. It would be a shame to let it go to waste, right?

It would be very easy to completely predator proof this. If it was anywhere but right outside my house, it would be covered in hardware cloth.

Forgot to say the chicks did great last night. I was worried because it was cold (well 40) and windy, but they were fine. I think I will leave the crate in for now. The way it's positioned, it will block any wind from hitting them directly.
