If it's okay, I want to elaborate on my friend that I mentioned before.
Let's call her X.
X has been my friend for 5 years. In these 5 years she has shown great kindness, but also great confidence... in spite of not really knowing what she's talking about.
When we went into Target as mentioned before, it ended up being a not-very-fun talk about COVID that was 80% her condescending to me like I'm the one belittling science. She refuses to wear a mask unless vehemently told to, calls COVID the "fancy flu," and will even try to take off my mask sometimes. My dad and brother are severely immunocompromised, and back in December she asked me to a maskless, indoor sleepover. Of course I said no. This was not met well. When I told her I wasn't going because I didn't want to kill my family members, she responded "It's their responsibility if they get sick, not yours."
Uh?
However, I am still friends with her, and care about her and her safety very much. She belongs to a special class of people found especially in the South, the "Extremely Confident Conspiracy Theorists." She sincerely believes that there is a microchip inside the vaccine. I still care about her. I hope she will come to realize that COVID is a very real threat, but for now all I can say is a very pretty
