I know! Mine are 6 weeks old and the calls they make are so cute! I have been checking each day to see if they have laid an egg.

Did you get some different color varieties? Quail are so awesome! I was able to integrate the babies that I kept with the adults by 3 weeks old lol

My quail aren’t born yet (anytime now!), but it’s possible they will be laying soon enough for me to incubate their eggs in time. That’s too funny!

I have mostly pharaoh but do have one that looks like a Texas A&M and one that looks like a tuxedo.

The white one makes a call so may be a boy. When they start laying eggs, I will do the foam test and band the boys.

It is good to know that they are easy to integrate

Count me in!! I can't keep chickens where I'm at anymore but my Mother's house is fair game. She'll be freeing up a little prefab coop around Easter that will be perfect for a group of bantams. Dad will never even notice the extras....

I have never raised quail (other than the wild ones that live here), but I'm curious.............what is a foam test?

It’s when you gently press on the vent to make the semen foam out.

Males have a foam gland in the tail. It is like whipped egg whites and likely lest the sperm live longer in the hens. For the Texas A&M, that is pretty much the only way to tell. The Pharaohs you can tell by breast, but I am not in any way up to using that!
