Speaking of quail, i heard quail whining from the incubator this morning. I figured maybe I had an early pip.... Nope, there's an early quail baby already hatched! Usually, they all pop out right around the same time but this one is sitting there, all alone, crying. Hopefully, the rest will join him soon!
Yay!

Incubation time is quite variable

Got most of my eggs in, have a couple more to pick up this morning.

One shipment was in foam, but, the box was basically oriented to where the eggs sat on their side the entire time. One cracked egg in that shipment and many of them with detached air cells.

Another shipment with 18 eggs and not a SINGLE detached air cell, these eggs look fabulous. They were bubble wrapped oriented vertically and double boxed.

My marans eggs who knows. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Exciting!
I hope the good ones hatch for you!

Maybe after the HAL I could meet up with you and buy some eggs.
In 6 to 10 weeks after they hatch, I should start having a lot of egg!

I will have extras for you then.

I love that they start laying so soon after hatching

That will work for me. I’ll need to modify the new coop a little for them.
I’ve heard that if you have allergies to chicken eggs that the quail eggs might be better. Don’t know how true it is

My Youngest DD loves them! She is not allergic to chicken egg though.

Post pictures of the packing job each place did

Received my egg shipment from Meyer Hatchery yesterday. If anything, the eggs were overprotected! Amazing packing job, eggs arrived in perfect condition. Two layers of egg crate, one layer of foam “marshmallows”, one layer of solid foam, and the eggs were packed in egg shipping foam. Can’t tell yet what condition the air cells are in.

I think more people should package eggs in that foam stuff!
