Hi Everyone!

Update on my non EHAL hatch. 20 went into lockdown and 11 hatched successfully. 1 externally pipped but I think suffocated because it got rolled onto the pip. I'm happy overall although bummed about the one I lost. The other 9 did not pip and I left them for an extra 24 hours.

Here are the breeds I got and my guesses at genders:
4 Jubilee Orpingtons (2 pullets / 2 roos)
1 Chocolate Cuckoo Orp (pullet)
1 Chocolate Orp (pullet)
1 Splash Maran (pullet)
2 Legbars (1 roo / 1 pullet)
2 Olive Eggers (1 roo / 1 pullet)

Update for EHAL - my hen is still sitting on 9 eggs on day 20. She's pretty guarded and I didn't get the final candling in but there were a couple of suspected clears. I'm watching her really closely since she is an untested mama hen. :fl My hopes are that she will do well and adopt the other babies too. :fl

Good luck everyone. Sending happy hatching vibes.
Nice pre hatch! I hope the Broody hatch goes well too

I’m probably going to need to top off humidity at some point. Maybe not if the pump filling the channels does fine, but we will see.

When moving things around and filling up before I dropped from 65-50 humidity and came up within 10 minutes. Is that a relatively “safe” zone if there are pips to top off humidity or do I have to be absolutely sure there are no pips?

Are some of y’all removing chicks while others have pipped? I see a lot of “I don’t leave chicks more than 24 hour” comments so I’m guessing I’ll need a plan.

I’ve got spray bottles, washcloths and sponges as needed. Let me know what you guys are doing...

Based on my chicks playing football with their siblungs, I moved them to the brooder and didnt do anything but open and close the bator between chicks. There were pips and zips but dry babies were getting rambunctious.

It is common to need to add water. Many use surgical hose to fill the tanks using the vent opening.

I am hatching in a Brinsea octagon and have a humidity pump
