The 2nd time around... - Setting eggs

Well, this is my second attempt at setting eggs. My first attempt had a ton of problems that when combined, ended up in a 0% hatch. I traded in my homemade incubator for a borrowed 1602N hovabator, added a fan to the inside of the 'bator to make it from still air to circulated. I set 4 BCM eggs from 3chickens and 13 easter egger eggs from Atlchick. Tomorrow I go to pick up 8 mutt eggs from the same lady who loaned me to hovabator (poultryand bees).

We'll see how this goes...

LUCK!!!!!!!! Wishing you the best. Perhaps this time fate will be kind. Even after I'd been hatching awhile - bad things happen and you get zeroes now and then and it still sucks. Practice makes better but never perfect.

Nature and power outtages, unplugged things, and quitting equipment, and children, spouses, pets and family and friends can ALL totally mess up a hatch and those are just the ones I can think of off the top of my head.

Often it's people trying to be helpful.... which causes no end of

ask anyone here about that.

Or pets. Mine unplugged the fans once and caused a 134 degree spike on precious, shipped marans eggs of course. One survivor.

You can do it and you can keep trying even when fate and equipment and all intervene and YOU WILL GET THERE!!! So I'll be here...

because I have a replacement batch of GCM eggs in my bator now to try to get those Marans I have wanted for the better part of a year. And failed twice.

So we are NOT QUITTERS and NOT ANONYMOUS !!!

I just set another 24 eggs (mutt eggs), that will stagger my hatch by 2 days. They were free from another BYC member that is close to me locally... I'm borrowing the 'bator from her.

So now the bator is full (42 slots in the turner). I set the dates in my email calendar so I'll get reminders for lockdown, etc.

Oh, and one of the BCM eggs cracked when the turner shoved it into the thermostat setup. Apparently the egg was too tall
