Happy Valentines day everyone!!!! I am setting eggs today because they will hopefully all hatch before we have to set eggs for the hatchalong. anyone else squeaking in one more bator full?


I am meeting a fellow over the mountain for lunch who is bringing me Dorking eggs on his way through the state. I lost my SG dorking roo a few months ago and have been wanting to get into reds and coloreds and a highly respected and influential dorking breeder is giving me 40 eggs out of his best two pens. I am so thrilled I cant stand it. but it's even better that it just happenned to coincide with the last day I could set eggs and still participate in the hatchalong!

and I have a brooder full of chicks from my own birds that just hatched out on Monday. today is a great day!!!!

Best gift !!!

My kids thought I was crazy cuz I squeeled like a little girl when I saw the receipt for the eggs. Now to just wait on the eggs.... I think that's one of the hardest parts.

i have a homemade cabinet forced air incubator that i finish this saturday! ill sure be joining inon the hatch!

Anyone getting (or giving) chicken related gifts?

My fiance just went to get the wood to build me a brooder for inside because our doggies are not chicken friendly so rubbermaids on the floor aren't safe and my batch is starting to hatch today! I can't wait for it to be finished!!!

Happy Valentine's Day to you! Yup, I have a few eggs under a broody hen right now. 5 duck eggs and a EE egg gonna get a few more just before we set for the hatch a long. It's true. I'm addicted.

Wow so many posts I read this morn, every morning I wake up super early so I can catch up on this thread Love that you guys are so chatty. And I am loving all the duckling pics I saw this morn. They arent in my cards just yet but I know one day I will break lol I think I want to try quail too.

My hubby is so sweet I woke up to an incubator this morn(gift from hubby) this is my second incubator he got me my first one for a Chirstmas gift <3 Such a good boy he knows what I like and hes feeding my addiction lol. Im lucky he got me one because Ive been saving eggs from my flock staring at them for a few days saying no you cant set them dont do it you already have eggs in the incubator. And I couldnt resist I tossed them all in yesterday(all 22, but I have a feeling more than half arent fertile). They will hatch just in time to clean the incubators and have them back up and running for this Easter Hatch Along

What a nice hubby!!!!! What are you getting for him?? More turkeys?

My chicks are set to hatch today! Happy Valentines Day! I have not had any pipping or anything Im Worried......

Don't be worried. They are probably taking their sweet time. The weather here has been crazy the past few days so that may have something to do with it. Woke up to 5/16 of my eggs pipped. Last week they all pipped on Day 20 and hatched on 21. This week they are a day later.

Great gifts! Especially the donuts.....mmmm, donuts! Seriously though, a new incubator is great! I have to wait until end of April for mine. Same for my white chanties! So jealous, judge!
I'll be hatching more mutts, but that's ok. I got rid of my 2 unruly RIR mutt roos, so now I'll know who the daddy is, just in time for hatch-a-long! My beautiful, gentlemanly, Cuckoo Marans rooster. He has 10 hens to breed with. Cuckoo Marans & SG Dorkings. I never tried to hatch the Marans eggs before, but I think I'll give it a go!

Okay, I'll go first because I love to dream. And BTW I have every intention on it coming true! I want a pond, with Sebastopol Geese. A peacock that's always perched on top of the coops. An outdoor duck aviary with ornamental ducks especially Mandarins, and of course the awesome chickens I already have, but more. A huge barn with many pens, brooding stations, and an enormous incubator filled with eggs and a line at my front door of the people wanting the chicks that hatch! Yep, that about covers it!

Someone I met from ebay because she was selling close to me and I went to the livestock auction with them. She has 10 acres, 4 are FULL of birds she has ALL types of geese, 3 types of swans in a large enclosed area with a huge pond, ALL types of turkeys, TONS of chickens, like 6 sportsman incubators, 4 kinds of pheasants, all types of peacocks, like 20 kinds of ducks, vulturines, guineas, and quail LOL it's AMAZING my fiance went with me and was like NOOOO you can't do this hahahah! He's allergic to feathers *hiding*
