So I got pictures of my eggs......And I'm a little concerned. Sorry they're grainy. I'm still learning how to use the light settings on my camera, so I had to lighten the pictures on the computer. I was right - my broody was sitting on 8 eggs. I just candled five of them, and all were clear. I took away one that's cracked. I think I'm going to check the other three, and if they're clear, as well, I'm just going to take them and toss them, then give her my Icelandic eggs I have in the bator. Today's day six, and the only things I could see were air cells and yolks. Her eggs are light green, and they're not terribly hard to see into. Am I jumping the gun if I toss them now because they're all clear?

My eggs came yesterday! Easter Eggers, Black Australorps, and a White Leghorn. I candled them and both Easter Eggers had detached air cells. I have been doing a lot of research and after just one day they are looking better. Still, this is my first time so if any one has any comments that would be helpful.
I'm going to set the fresh variety of 30 eggs that I got today to give them their best chance. (This will only be my third incubation, and I really messed up the last one.) ...
I'm going to set two dozen Buff Orphingtons in my classroom on Tuesday or Wednesday... whichever day my student brings in the eggs. (I'll use my auto turner for those, as our spring break is coming up and I do NOT want to be up there turning eggs every day during my spring break lol...
The crazy thing is, I don't really even get to keep any of these, even though I REALLY want to...

Sounds like you need to buy yet another incubator and set some for yourself lol
My calls quit laying with the bad weather we've had the last few weeks, so I only had one lonely egg to set from them. I did put in some goose eggs to hopefully give it some company, if they are fertile.
I have 2 serama laying and I'm collecting whatever I get from them, and still hoping I'll get a d'uccle egg or 2 to set in time. I think that's all I'll be able to squeeze in my little incubator. Which is why, after I get my mandarin pen done, my next project is going to be to build an incubator.
I'm STILL catching up!! Missed the deadline to guess # eggs hatching, too! Darn. Oh well. At 230 people x 75 eggs = my guess, not official of course. Hard to make a prediction when the number of people joining in is not final. I'm too much of a numbers person to make a shot in the dark. lol
