Nah, not a dork! My son says that, & so do I sometimes! He makes me feel like a kid again. I'm SO immature for my age! Lol! Now go get some extra eggs! :)
Dilemma? Lol! Chicks all the way for me! I have to be dragged out kicking & screaming for any road trips! Jk.

Thank you for this information I had no idea. I go out every morning and get 1 egg and the hens are out of the coop so I assumed they where not broding Patience is the key.

Yes it is

I am in for the hatch! Not sure what I am going to set yet. Probably some sort of Polish. Now to pick an incubator - or maybe I'll just run two!

I'm in North Carolina..I went out this morning and she was sitting in the spot I collected from yesterday could this mean she's ready. I felt like I was invading her privacy so I closed the door. then she came out and i think she went back in. Should I go back out and mark the egg or eggs. or is it still too soon.

Good morning peeps! Its T-32 days till setting eggs! Its time for some Fun Chicken Facts:

Chickens are frequently mentioned in religious text & mythology. The islamic faith believes that when a cock crows it is because he has seen an angel. In the Hadith, Muhammad commands, "When you hear the crowing of cocks, ask for Allah's Blessings for they have seen an angel".

Now don't I feel extra blessed. My property must be full of Angels day and night!

If this is the first time you saw her sitting there, I would say keep watching and see. I usually let them sit on dummy eggs for several days before I swap everything out for the ones I want them to hatch. If they growl at you and fluff up when you try to take out their eggs, that can be another sign she is ready. What type of hen is she?

Wow, mine too...........................although it did get a bit quieter, I recently moved out around 35 roos. But the 35+ left seem to be quite good at spotting heavenly beings! Now I'll know what to say if the neighbors complain.................freedom of religion and all, LOL
