Figures I have to work Saturday night and won't be able to play.

First chick is out! crazy part is this one hadn't even pipped when i left the house at 3:00. just got back around 4:15 he is out and half fluffy! there are now 3 more pipped and 3 that haven't done anything yet.

Congrats on the new babies!!! Is it odd that I love the smell of new baby chicks?? Hubby thinks I'm crazy LOL oh well...

Me too, it confuses me endlessly, lol. I hate trying to talk to my sister in Germany, I can never get what time it is there when I'm calling straight.

And I always forget where is ahead and where is behind.

Update: Hello BYC
Just a little note on the latest of our 1st hatch of 3 from yesterday!

Our 2nd Group: 2 chicks, hatched around 12:45am 3-21-13. I just had to stay up, you know.

I finally got them into the brooder around 2 am and gave up to get some sleep.






Our 3rd Group: 3 chicks, hatched around 5:30am today. Got them into the brooder around 6:45 am.

Our 4th Group: Just started around with 1 chick hatched around 1:45pm today. I got a photo of her popping her head up and out of there.....

Soon to go into the brooder.

I have to say that this staggered hatch, is well, staggering!

I would like to follow up on the contest request for award prizes, but need a day to get me head cleared and some sleep. When is the cut off day for donations?

Sally I am way way behind again on the thread but I will try to come up with a fun gift to donate I will try and PM you if I can figure out how on here... Or could you PM me first bc I know how to reply lol!!
On another note I have candled again and t appears my fears were correct of our 14 shipped eggs only 2 developed and one looks
Like a quitter so of those we will only have 1 viable that is the risk of shipping I suppose the air cells were pretty wonky and a couple
Were scrambled lol! But the kids are taking it well! Of the 9 orps we had shipped 8 are showing good development and 1 is questionable. And of our 7 silkies/polish 5 look good 2 are playing with me lol!
So looks like we are maybe about 50% hatch rate now and I am just crossing my fingers they all make it to lockdown!!! Not too bad-not the best we have done but not the worst either lol!

Hey, forgot 1 thing. I've had the radio on our Alabama Public Radio station for the past few days. I think I have just about learned all the classical jazz and symphonys I can stand for now. hahaha But, the chicks, love it!! Sure beats me standing around peeping, chirping and clucking at them to calm them down. . .They love the stuffed animal too! Have a great day everyone.
