Yay for chickies!!! I'm hearing more chirping from mine now! Me thinks the movements are more subtle when eggs are standing in a carton. What a relief to hear some live ones in there!

Correct, you will not see them wiggle as much in cartons.

ahhhhhhhh.....No cheeps in my bator and they are all standing up so hard to see wiggles. Grrrrrrrrrrr.........this is when the frustration sets in. lol Of course I set on the 9th so I know its ok...but you guys are teasing me! lol

Oh that brings up another point I was going to bring up earlier....I hope I don't jinx myself, but...I have never had a pip at the wrong end. Could this be because I incubate with them standing up? Kind of like saying that the chick would have to be standing on its head to pip the wrong end?

I hatch in cartons and I did have one pip the wrong end once. I didn't know and it passed.

I currently have one egg that made a crack in the egg instead of a pip. I've never had this happen, so I'll be watching it.

Congrats to all of you with pips and chicks!

I now have 10 barnevelder chicks out and another 5 or so eggs pipped.

I started a day early so they are fairly close to on time. These are local and come from a very healthy flock too.

Based on my last chicken hatch, I will still be hatching them on Sunday....
