I will have some of my own eggs to set for the hatch, yay! My serama's laid their first egg today (next to an egg from one of my large fowl hens in the pic). Now if only the call ducks, mandarins, and d'uccles would start laying too, I'd be all set.

I tried! I searched all the usual nest sites, even the ones that they think I don't know about. I looked and looked for an emu egg to set, but I didn't find one, not even one! Maybe next year!

In the meantime, I will look for an emu. That could make finding an egg to hatch easier......

My kids keep bugging me for an emu!! I made the mistake of showing them Kathy Imo's cuties!!

We are going to be participating in the hatch-a-long and had set eggs 19 days ago to check fertility. We have 8 babies in lockdown as I type!! Five are my sons first hatch from his new silkie chickens. He is super excited :) Nice to see a 14 year old excited about something other than video games :/

They are supposed to hatch on his birthday! That would be a great surprise for him :)

We have two dozen turkey eggs due to come to us that we were going to add for the hatch-along. Looks like we might have those early but if they are we'll still have a another bator to fill of chicken eggs for the hatch-along :)

I don't have the controler keyboard, so this is pretty slow and painful.

My biggest problem is not viewing every egg as a potential chick. I try to only eat eggs out of my egg flock.

Although, I'm getting so many eggs right now (4-5 dz per day), I do get excited when I have a recipe that uses LOTS of eggs. Tonight we had eggs benedict for dinner, four poached eggs and another two used for the hollandaise, yay!

I just recently had some remodeling done, it was hard for workman to get away without eggs in their hands. I'm starting to get ready to chase the UPS & FedEx drivers down the driveway, LOL
That dinner scores a 10 for egg numbers!!! My grandmother made snow puddling--beaten whites for the snow and yolks in the custard. Not sure how many in that recipe.

Quote: Mine too! My kids ask when I'm serving chicken, which is very often "Is that ours?"
