Remember my OH OH? I took that one out last night, and worked on it through the night. Whew. Glad I did. It was so tight in there. This is one of the eggs I had separated because of the high air sacs. Here is a picture after ~ she woke up around 4 this morning after being droopy for a while.


I went ahead and opened the others. One had died, two were mishaped in the head/eyes.....different breeds....the rest are hanging out until they are ready to absorb and wake up. I am pretty sure the rest will make make.

That is the sweetest little chick!

I wanted LF, but these were such nice birds I bought them. I had another hen, Baby, but had a pack of dogs get into my yard when I was gone a little over a month ago. Lost 27 including Baby and my little Chocolate AM pulley, Ganache. Two of the sweetest birds in the yard and lost them both. LF Favs will be after I move if I get what I want.

Oops, didn't mean to double click that. So Update. I have THREE chicks out!

Two white silkies, they are not into napping and are rolling around the bator. One buff silkie is much more sedate and the first to hatch at 9:36 this morning. I have one buff silkie zipping right now and three more pips. Two others have not pipped yet but are jolting their eggs. Two BBS Orps have pipped. One has a little whole going and it's either blue or black I think. The one with the horrendous air cell has not pipped yet, but it's early yet.

. All 15 eggs were moving at lockdown so I'm hopeful. It's gonna be a long day with 5 people lurking around the bators.

My EE chicks have a few that appear to have Jersey Giant dad..
I thought the That roo was seperated from EE hens sufficent length of time!!
What is the recommend time of withdrawl from breeding roo....?
my Araucana roo did his job on most of the group!!!!

I have read a hen can hold sperm for up to 3 weeks

Last count was 9 chicks... my phone battery died so I'm away from the incubator. I hope it charges fast so I can get back out there!

I have a humidity issue right now with all these chicks hatching at once. The two little windows are getting condensation on them. My temps aren't high though, if anything it's low around 98 so I'm nervous about opening the lid to let some moisture out. What would you do? I want to pull all the shells out too real quick if I do pop that lid open for a few seconds. The chicks are still quite wet looking.

I am jealous ..lol ..you guys keep posting chicks hatchin , I am at work and can not check mine till this afternoon. As of lunch I have nothing, and will only be home for just a minute when I get off to change. My boys and I are in a play for easter, at our church Sunday morning ,and we have to practice tonight. love the pics of all the chicks. Bad thing, well not really, is I just hatched a bunch 22 days ago... and my sqh RIR hatching eggs will be here Monday so I will be hatching again.

Ok so this is only my second hatch but right now I think this will never get old.
Truly amazing to see life spring out of little seed eggs.

10 of 32 with a few pipped. I have to drag myself away soon so I can get anything done today.
