Here's my little miracle chick - my first assist. I didn't take photos while she was being assisted or hatching cause i was too concerned about her making it. She was too tired she just snuggled down in my palm for a couple of quick photos once she was partially dry.

And here she isthe next morning after drying off completely and getting a nap.

(I had to set a day early, so they are on time for me.)

Be sure to post when your hatch is done and how many chicks you hatched, so we can get everything recorded for the How Many Will Hatch Contest.

Happy Good Friday everyone!! And thank you all for the well wishes!! I have had several mishaps with horses but this was one of the scariest in a very very long time and I am lucky it wasn't much worse! Best part is after the ordeal was over the owner says to me-yep seems about right for him won't be the first fence we have replaced thanks to him- ahhhh nothing like a little forwarning on a patient lol!! But never the less I am alive and doing well so thank you all for your thoughts:) and Chooks I LOVE leafy greens so thanks for the tip!!!

We have some activity in the hatcher and the kids are very anxious! Cams are up and rolling
Thanks to their IT teacher and they can all log into the school site and watch over the weekend! How cool is that!!!??? Wow I love the technology they are using at school these days!!
Happy Hatching Everyone!!!

First time hatcher here! One a chick has cracked the eggshell of one egg in the incubator (not a hole all the way through that it could breath through, just cracked) and began to peep last night. It peeped several times. This morning, 7 hours later, no peeping and no progress. Is this normal? I keep saying to myself, don't open the box...give him 12 hours. Should I see consistent progress in the hatch or is it normal for them to sit there with a sort of cracked shell and nothing for 24 hours? I posted a picture of the egg last night...it's an Americana. Any advice from the seasoned hatchers would be greatly appreciated! I'm Sitting on my hands right now!

Good Luck everyone! Remember to be patient. I'll be offline probably until this evening. I expect to have lots of posts to catch up on. I have 3 poults out, and 5 or 6 more pips.
PATIENT, yup yup! Have a great day

My EE chicks have a few that appear to have Jersey Giant dad..
I thought the That roo was seperated from EE hens sufficent length of time!!
What is the recommend time of withdrawl from breeding roo....?
my Araucana roo did his job on most of the group!!!!
YAY!!

So ugly it's cute? Little naked neck Mohawk chicken. Totally tuckered out.
ohhh I WANT ONE!!!
Well ... 9 chicks have hatched and 9 more have pipped.

The temp keeps spiking to 100 - 101, and the hatched/dried chicks start panting when it does. Also, when the new chick hatched, the humidity spikes to 80% or more. So, I've been opening it for a second to remove the extra heat & humidity. It then stays within the acceptable range for awhile. I have all the plugs out, and I don't want to overheat the chicks. Is that okay? Plus, I use that second to remove any empty egg shells, so the chicks have more room to explore.

sounds like your trying to keep it down, you should be ok if you can keep tabs on it!
Remember my OH OH? I took that one out last night, and worked on it through the night. Whew. Glad I did. It was so tight in there. This is one of the eggs I had separated because of the high air sacs. Here is a picture after ~ she woke up around 4 this morning after being droopy for a while.

I went ahead and opened the others. One had died, two were mishaped in the head/eyes.....different breeds....the rest are hanging out until they are ready to absorb and wake up. I am pretty sure the rest will make make.

Whew..didn't get to finish my post..we had to rush out little dog to the vet! He was crying, and his stomach was huge, and tight as a drum. I thought, oh no, bloat? He will eat and eat if he can. Not sure how he got hold of extra food, we don't free feed him, no way. He eats too much too fast. A little Schnoodle. Yep, they took a X-ray, saw a lot of food in there,,,,and,,,a BB! What? This dog does not run lose. Always in the back yard with us. Or in the house. How in the world. Through the years, he's 6, he has gotten away from us a few times..must have happened then, but when..who knows. But there it was on the X-ray..fine where it is, so no worry.
Strange.
Anyway, I didn't tell that I had a chick hatch on it's own last night. After I got that one out, I helped this one in the picture. Now, have one pip, almost a zip, and one zipping in the bator that has the good air sacs. What a morning!! And night. :/
