I think I have 15 hatched now? I had 14 when I left the house for an hour and its hard to count when they are moving but one looks very new and wet! I got another turken x - a blonde one this time!

Wow i just read your signature....thats alot of animals!!! I have 24 chickens, 2 dogs and now 3 ducks. I want turkeys but i just don't have the room.

lol yes it is, but I blame it on the fact I'm aspiring to be a veterinarian

. Plus it keeps things interesting around here, and it would be too quiet without them (although I'd love to find my foster dogs their homes, two have been here since they and their siblings were 6 weeks old, found homes for five of them and these guys will be 2 this coming July!).

I'm excited about turkeys! I really love the Red Bourbon Turkeys! I was hoping to find some poults locally, but if we don't by May we will be buying from a hatchery

.

Plus my dad asked yesterday (since we are moving the chicken coop soon, making a concrete floor for it) if I wanted the coop bigger. I nearly fell on the ground laughing and said "SURE, you can make it as big as your hearts content, I can easily fill it up." lol Never ask a question like that to a poultry obsessed girl who loves to hatch and really wants geese after those turkeys are established

Of course his response was "That's what I'm afraid of"

Top is pure Cuckoo Marans #1
Centre is Cuckoo Marans x ? #2
Bottom is 3/4 finished mega brooder! Yay! Just needs 2 hinged lids.
I am eggzausted!!! #3 going to hatch some time thru the night. Nothing happening with remaining 9 eggs.

This is not an exact picture of my silkies foot, but similar except the outter toe is sitting under the entire foot.

I read a lot and just made a splint for my silkie...He is NOT happy lol but the toes are stretched out where they should be. However the splint I made which is a piece of cardboard on bottom for support and packing tape. S.O. held him on his back while I worked quickly, and is able to walk on it and get around. I will re evaluate tomorrow, and am SO open to any other suggestions or ideas. Should his toe joints be able to move or is it ok that they are flat for now?
my bubbas feet are normal now and they looked like that and it took three days of new foot taping until he was good as far as the foot

One of my ducks have pipped! I had to open the bator because the humidity was over 80% and figured I would check on the two duck eggs. I noticed what kinda looked like a crack in the shell, but I wasn't sure until I held it up and tapped it. The duckling tapped back! The other egg is still worrying me, but I have plenty of time before I need to really start worrying over it. My one pipped BA/RIR is making progress now and the RIR I noticed this morning has done nothing. My hatch is finally starting. Chances are I'll wake up to chicks hatched.

Am I right in assuming that even though the duckling has pipped, it may very well not hatch until tomorrow afternoon sometime?

Alright, now I have a bunch of Marans eggs pipped and 2, yes, 2 pipped Buckeyes! But I am not counting my chickens before they are hatched just excited to see all those pips!

So excited for everyones' hatchlings!

I had ordered 22 eggs for my first hatch.

from the first shipment of 14 eggs, 2 broke in transit, 5 were infertile and 2 quit :( . Sad to have lost all those eggs! Now I have = 7 left that are due today from the first shipment.

From a 2nd shipment of 8 eggs, 3 of them quit, though all were fertile = 5 left and are due tomorrow

12 total eggs left, no pips or cheeps yet. I'm getting really antsy and obsessively checking!
