Yupper, first kitten out. She'd been squatting for an hour so we were certain it was time to isolate her to the bathroom with Amanda watching her to ensure she's going to be a good mother. She seems like she'll take to it without a hitch.

My neighbor's cat has kittens on Monday. The first one I saw was the most beautiful black/orange/white calico (one I'd be interested in keeping if I already didn't run a small animal reserve). LOL But she was still giving birth & chores took me away. When I returned a couple hours later, I could not find that kitten anywhere! I did find 4 other kittens & one still in the sack. I opened up the sack at the face, but it was already gone

Hove no idea what happened to that first kitty, but like I said earlier, many many predators here & she is a barn cat, so who knows. Wish I took a picture.

You have a mini zoo compared to me. :) Lets see...
3 lovebirds
6 cockatiels
2 doves
1 canary
1 meyers parrot
14 adult hens
2 adult roos
9 juveniles
17 chickies (claimed 7 as keepers)
3 cats
5 dogs
4 horses
oh yeah, and 2 fish.

OMG How did this happen? I've become an animal hoarder!!

You're getting close to me... 12 original hens, 38 chicks/juveniles, 1 Tom turkey, 5 cats, 2 rabbits, 6 dogs, 1 turtle, 9 horses.... Maybe we're even??

My Prim has adopted my 8 Spitzhauben crosses. She lives in the big brooder on the barn with them. Every day, I open the top of the brooder so they can fee range, every day I open the layer coop so the hens and Prim's original babies can free range as well. I know they cross paths because I will occasionally find a stray hen or two in the barn in the evening, but Prim chooses to stay with the Spitzhauben chicks instead of returning to her original coop and flock. I figured she wa still broody and just needed to raise some chicks, but this morning, I found an egg in the brooder!!

There are still a lot of missing hatch numbers.

Please post your final numbers of chicks you hatched here so we can record them for the contests.

Deadline is 4/6 to get them in.
I had 3 hatch.

It might be easier next time to have a seperate thread or an entry form to enter numbers, to make it a lot easier for you guys to count, instead of trying to sift through this whole thread.

Guess he thinks I have too many animals already (10 hens, 4 roos, 3 dwarf rabbits, a kitty, a puppy and his dog and his fish tank). It's my own personal zoo - right? I love them all.

HAHA!!!:lau Welcome aboard!!
my ebay eggs are lost. Went to Tracy , Calif. instead of Stockton, Calif. now they have to go back to Sacramento then Stockton than back to Modesto. Boy I am praying they make it to Modesto intact. Got my fingers crossed.
OMG!!! It's the PO here I swear! I sent eggs to Bakersfield last tuesday and they traveled the state. Tons of re routing and the buyer got her broken eggs this morning. I'm going to collect for her again and send them either friday or monday. This is getting rediculous. I've gotten so many damaged boxes and even boxes that looked fine that had every egg broken. The best one was the box that had probably been run over (Not kidding) with stickers and chicken clipart and warnings all over it. It was half in and half out of a plastic bag which had a sloppy "Received Damaged" sticker, barely holding it onto the box and egg running all over. But this is getting to be a habit with them sending boxes all over.
Ugh, don't you just hate that??:rant My $35.00 worth of Barred Cochin Eggs for this hatch were so scrambled that I got NADA! I should have seen it coming. I went to pick the box up and every side had this end up arrows.....Postal Lady had it sitting behind the counter ON IT'S SIDE!! I'm getting ready to send out my first set of eggs Thursday. They only have to make it 2 hrs. away :fl
I believe these are the 3 SFHs I hatched. And here is the little SL bantam Cochin. Excuse the food all over her..... There were also 9 OE/EE in the hatch.
How adorable! I'm really loving #3 :love
Okay out of the 98 i set. I got 50 chicks to hatch. 2 died and 3 zipped then died. I tried to save one. but it didn't make it now I know why you shouldnt try snd save. it had a cross beak and one eye stuck out far and not sure if it had a second eye. I sold 6 so far. Thank you to Chooks, Sally and Mike for the hard work you did.
