Please report your total chicks hatched in this thread so we can record the numbers.

I'm not holding out much hope for my remaining chicken eggs, though I will leave them in the incubator over the weekend just in case. It just seems weird that I had such a good hatch rate (late as they were) with the ducks, but a really bad one with the chickens. The chickens were someone else's stock that I picked up (not shipped though) but they said they were getting 75% hatch rate.

Final numbers:
Set 41 eggs, 28 hatched
29 duck
12 chicken

26 duck hatched
1 early blood ring
1 late quitter
1 pipped and quit
2 chicken hatched
4 clears
6 left in the incubator to see what happens.

Stubby will be fine - the biggest problem will be defending himself from the others. But since you are building him his own coop he will be good. We had this happen to a full grown rooster quite a few years ago when we had the long weeks of way below 0 temps (-40s). The other roosters hadn't let him into the coop a couple of nights and when we finally figured it out his frostbite had been too bad. He walked on his stubs and got around just fine. He lived on my sister's little hobby farm for 5 years before she had problems with a weasel in their barn and lost him and a bunch of her other chickens. The weasel didn't touch any of the birds that were not red.

Good luck with Stubby!
I've been roooting for him from the get go! (please let us know his progress!)

This is my Stubby's feet (or lack there-of).

I had to move him inside, just because the other chickens were picking on him. He's not really happy about the small cage I have him in, but I'm working on a custom built coop just for him with ramps and deep bedding and shelves with lips on them so I can bed those down as well and he can feel like he can get off the ground. I am planning on picking one small EE to live with him so he won't be lonely...

This is a bad pic of him, cuz I was holding him in my lap and trying to take the picture...

I have a friend who has a rooster like this. She says he gets around pretty good. I can't even imagine picturing it. ?? Hope your guy gets around well, and the others just stop being bullies! :/

So I already entered this in the cute Easter chicks contest, but had to share it here cause it is too precious. This is my niece Sarah. I thought it would be immeasurable fun to let her play with some of the chicks from the hatch on Easter Sunday and take some photos (and cause my sister really wanted some good photos of her). Oh boy, the sheer excitement of it was almost too much. The face she is doing here we in my family call "bird lips" which I though went well with the chicks. You can see her just exploding with excitement. Couldn't hardly get her to sit still and she kept picking them up by their heads - good thing they are a lot sturdier than they look. I have a few others where they climbed up into her lap, but by that point, she was getting tired of sitting still so the facial expressions are not quite as good. Can't ask for more from an 8mo old though.

What happened!!!!

I checked page 1 and my hatch numbers have not been recorded nor my number for the guess how many hatch.

First here is my hatch numbers (I did post them):

42 set
23 lock down
21 hatched

here's the link where I posted my guess: https://www.backyardchickens.com/t/...-contest-11-guess-how-many-eggs-will-hatch/30

I am sure its very difficult to keep up with all that's going on with this contest. I appreciate everyone's hard work!
