A while back I posted about finding Call Ducklings. Well, I couldn't find any anywhere, so I placed a WTB ad on Craigslist. Last night I talked to a lady only 50 minutes away from me who is going to set eggs for me (when they actually start laying) and said I should have ducklings sometime in April!!! YAY ME!!! I'm so happy, can you tell??

So awesome, do you know what colors they have? I think those ducks are adorable and tiny!

well, shoot. the eggs I usually get from my own birds are pretty clean so I've never washed them but the ones I just got from an outside source and put into the incubator yesterday were not so clean so I cleaned them off with a warm wet q-tip. Have I completely screwed up or what???!!!???? head->desk

Thanks! They were pooping and moving all around. It makes it so hard to get a good picture!

I put them in the brooder with some 2 1/2 week old wellie chicks and the older chicks are petrified of the younger chicks!
that's the way mine normally are, too. the younger chicks are fearless and pick at the older ones and the older ones are like...."what the heck, leave me alone!!!"

Quote: No you didn't "screw" up you had been misinformed, there are so many things the universities study and so many things learned and changed! We just need to be quicker in spreading the information is all and pray that the people we buy eggs from do their best to keep nesting areas as clean as possible and NOT sell NASTY Eggs. I very rarely have poo on my eggs in my nesting boxes, but sometimes people have ALOT of birds I guess, I have 17 hens and they all use the same 3 boxes and honestly hardly any poo in the boxes, if I see any poo I have a little hand rake hanging on the inside of the door and and flick it out of the box and I also have plenty of shavings on hand to keep them fresh!

Your rake reminds me of the egg turner Mrs Oz got me when I asked for one for Christmas

She is a funny lady

This is Juliet on FF! (fermented feed)

& Juliet after her bath and haircut! If this doesnt work, the silkies will NOT get FF anylonger as I had a terrible time cleaning her up since its at her face and nostrils, I pray I didnt hurt her with all that water at her face! I cut most of her poof off, one plus is that she can finally see as you always had too much poof it covered her entire face. I had to be VERY CAREFUL not to cut her wattles under that mess at her beak too! She loved the meal worms at blow dryer break times!
