Just curious if anyone does any special preperations or anything before rotating chickens into new pens. I making a breeder coop and a Layer coop and need to rotate the chickens. Ive never moved a few chickens from their existing flock nor have I added to a new flock so I dont know what to expect. These chickens are all from my flocks no new comers. I am planning on putting my rooster and his 3 pullets in with my "big girls" and taking half the "big girls" out and putting them in the empty roosters house. Any tips?

GOOD MORNING! looks like we have more rain coming in today.Glad my oldest son helped and cleaned out one of the pens today. Going to put the chicks from NYD hatch in there. They are getting way to big for brooder now. I have already culled the ones I did not want ( roo's). I have 3 more that I need to get rid of. One of those I might keep. He is a solid black olive egger roo. He is huge and really friendly. Kinda at a loss on this one.

It is sleeting here at the moment.

I went this weekend and brought home 2 new cochin pullets to add to my project pen (HAPPY me!!) and moved my little peeps to bigger brooders. One of these days it will warm up enough to move them outside, right? UGH! I am never doing a winter hatch again!!

I have had my best success by moving the a couple hours after they start to roost at night. still have a little scrapping of the hens but not near as bad. I would still watch them though and only break them up if injuries or blood occurs.

Decided to buy one.
Darn it, I didn't see this one come up in the choices! Oh well....
