Do those breeds make good pets for families and do they stay close to home?
mine have never ventured more than a couple hundred feet from the coop. they are not mean in the least bit at all so I would say they are family oriented. They are free range birds.

It's a good thing I don't have any fertile eggs or I would end up pulling out my bators....
... and I already have TOO MANY CHICKENS!

For those of you looking for temp/hygrometers you might Condsider this one.

They have them for less than $10 on Amazon. I have several of them all over the house and use them in my incubators. They match my brinsea spot check right on for temp. I guessI can't garauntee humidity accuracy, but if I use two they read the same. In any case I've had good hatches with them.

This is what I use, and I have two. I got mine at Walmart. They work great.
