Today is set day for Seramas. Tomorrow is the start of setting for quail.
We want to hatch on March 30th, (the day BEFORE Easter Sunday) button quail: 16 days to hatch; set March 14th coturnix quail: 18 days to hatch; set March 12th seramas: 19 days to hatch; set March 11th
OK speaking of quail. I've been trying to load a pic of an egg I found from a Marans. It was cracked and sitting right next to another egg in the same spot on the patio. My girls will only use 2 of the nest boxes, so instead of just using an empty one with clean fluffy shavings, they fight and even poop on eachother to get in one of those 2 boxes. One has the hen that is trying to collect eggs to hatch for herself. So, when the higher ups are in or waiting for a box, these goofy girls will lay in the dirt, on a brick, on the patio!!! Where ever. I'm trying to get this darn pic to load, but don't think it's going to happen. Anyway, it's the size of a Coturnix egg! I couldn't figure out what it was then picked it up and though, man that's a dark quail egg, but the quail are penned!
OH I did it! It was a perfect little egg, other then them cracking it.
We find eggs this size all the time from my uncle's flock. They are always right next to a regular size egg of the same color. And they never have yolks.

You can certainly be in the hatch. But for the contests on setting eggs, we had to come up with dates on what to include. So we can't include your eggs in the # set for the contests.
Good morning everybody! Busy day yesterday! Hubby built me a poop board for the coop. Yay! Now it'll stay a lot cleaner in there!
I've got a situation here with my still air LG. Every time I tilt it, the temp & humidity drops. Waz up with that? Really annoying, I'm considering putting the auto turner back in. I do not open lid.
Congrats JofulPromise!!!!
LOVE baby goat pics!!! Too cute! More pics please!
Those learning about maple syrup production - finished product will not necessarily be thick. The Aunt Jemima & others have additives in them to make them thick at room temperature. Pure maple syrup will thicken a bit naturally, after it has been refrigerated. Lots of resources on the web. Good luck!
