I read that it gets pretty warm right there. I left the 3 surrounding holes empty just to be safe.

I never did when I had a turner. Yours looks like it has a cover on it, mine didn't. Touch it, and see if it's hot. Maybe someone on here has one like yours..maybe they don't get too hot??

Yea
Mine doesn't have a cover either, I wouldn't worry to much, I bet the cover does help some. I left 3 spaces empty around mine but if I HAD enough eggs to fill up The entire thing then you better bet id fill it all the way up regardless. Surely they thought enough about this to make all holes useable? You could always rotate which egg will be next to the motor if you are really worried.

Thanks! I am going to just let it ride and see what happens. I am not worried about it since its my first attempt and they all came from my chickens. If after I candle there's empty holes I will leave the area around the motor clear.

Ticks me off every time I see one. My feed store was even better: Ameraucana/Araucana Pullets. I did order some (EE's) and they actually asked me which I would prefer. Does it MATTER??
Irks me! Why don't they just say EEs. Crud, be honest. Besides, lots of people love them, so why play with a name and mislead people?

I had to applaud a poster at one of the feed stores near here a couple of weeks ago. It actually displayed those chicks as "Easter Eggers".

That's what I mean! I love EE's, there is no shame in selling EE's!!!!!!!! The problem is that people buy them, and then tell other people they have one or the other, and then an informed person has to tell them they've been duped. Embarrassing! I know there are many more reasons this is wrong, but I think not being told what you have is the worst! My feedstore (that I love) had their Ameraucana/Araucana bin set up the other night at their annual Chick Extravaganza. It killed me from the get go, but the worst was when the Rep. from Nutrena Foods also referred to them as Ameraucanas and Araucanas. I lost all respect. UGH!!!

Ok, that's bad. You'd think the Nutrena rep would know better. I've educated my local feed store a time or two.

Some ppl on here that have a lot of eggs just tilt the whole bator from side to side. That way dont have to turn each
I did that last year and I'm doing it again this year. I dry hatch so it works out well for me. It makes life so much easier.

Aw, she's so cute! One of my neighbors has a blonde doberman and he's beautiful. I'd never seen one that color before.
Thank you.

He is a pure American Bulldog.

Okay I set eggs yesterday at around 1 pm. Now here is a very dumb question: I thought my incubator held 41 eggs but it has 42 eggs in it so was I not suppose to put one near where the automatic turner motor is? This is my first time ever so I don't have a clue.

btw its a mix of LF bbs Orps, EEs and EE over BCM.

My fiance has an American/Staffordshire. He's such a sweetheart and a bed hog!

What is wrong with this picture? We see it often if we go to a feed store with chicks.

Good price though!
My feed store actually spells it right... when they have them. The rest of the time it's EE and they label them the right way.

Just a bit ago I was checking on my duck eggs and I burned my right hand on the heat coil.

This isn't the first time I've done it and I can tell you it won't be the last. I'm down to 2 duck eggs. I have a clear, a blood ring, and a quitter. The veins are already mostly faded in the quitter. I thought I'd be funny and try to peek at one of my game eggs to see if I could see anything yet. Nope. I knew that.

I too love my EEs but when I purchased mine I was told they were Ameraucanas (they were bought from someone who got them from McMurray hatchery). He didn't know and neither did I and I loved those little fuzzy faces. Long story short I discovered I had EEs when I did some research on Ameraucanas.

Now the thing that gets to me even more so than the hatcheries and feed stores selling them as Ameraucana or Araucana are the people who are selling EEs that insist they are Ams. It doesn't matter how you try to educate they refuse to believe it and get angry. I understand part of it is because they were sold "Ameraucana/Araucana" but how hard is it to open your mind enough to explore the breed you have or think you have?
