Woohoo! :)
Sure...big misunderstanding there right? Uh hu... :lau
LOL!!! This would so be me! You have no idea how hard it was for me yesterday at TSC to not say honey can we just take 2-4 home paaallleeeaassseee!!! Lol
I would have been, but my fiance knows me too well and won't take me. And my dad leaves for the feed store before I wake up to keep me from looking.

Lol! They mainly just has rir, a prolific layer mix and some meat birds and then 3 different breeds of sucks. But if they had some ee's or IF they have some when hopefully my eggs hatch I might grab a couple and put them in quarantine a while then introduce then to mine! I have YET to discuss this plan with S.O lol but he tends me to leave me to my own devices usually as he knows ill do it regardless lol!!
Okay, sorry it took me so long to get back on here - trying to get a series of breeding coops/pens built, lol!

I only set 26 eggs, rather than 41, so, whoever is in charge of that, sorry for the change.

Do I need to post a pic of the eggs in the bator? I hope they survive - there was a spike in the temps when my fan got unplugged, and I don't know how long they were overheated. Depending on which thermometer I go by, they were anywhere from 105 to 109,

so, I'll be a bit nervous come first candling!

Oh no! I hope they will be ok!!
All my eggs are looking good except for my one d'uccle egg I put in there. It was her first egg, so that doesn't surprise me too much, I'm ok with it. I've had the first 2 serama chicks from my birds hatch out in the last few days. The older one likes to sleep on his back or side with his legs straight out. It scares me, I think it's dead everytime I look in there. I had a poult and another serama hatch today, so I'm hoping now that he has company he'll knock off the playing possum.

Adorable! Love that picture!!
I put 12 eggs in the incubator on monday (3/11). Can I still join? I'm not sure how many will make it, because it's my first hatch, and I feel like I've made lots of mistakes already. :/. I guess it 's a learning experience..... I have a candling question. When I candle my eggs I don't see any kind of air cell, am I missing something? I do see a dark area, that "floats" around when I turn the egg. I'm on day 3, good, or bad?
Don't be discouraged this is my first time and honestly I'm watching my humidity and temp and just letting the baton do its job. I've got 2 extra thermometers in there with them and I made a huge mistake of accidentally forgetting to plug back up my egg turner after candling for over 24hours! :( I hope all will be ok too. But I realize if not, then not much I can do about it. Just take everything as a learning experience and try harder next time :) At day 3 my air cell wasn't to visible either however at day 3 I was using a normal flashlight. I'm not using a 100lumen led light and works so much better.

I have a brother that's like Willie in every way! Looks like a bad a** biker dude, but is really a teddy bear & has a lot of good business sense. I managed to get my stuffed-shirt, white-collar husband, to watch it last year. His one guilty pleasure! Lol! It has a lot of appeal. Something for everybody. I think a new season is starting. I better go check!

OMG! That is the 'deadest' looking chick I have ever seen! Wow! So glad it's alive!

Yes we watch duck dynasty... my boys love it. Si is hillariuos! Jack.lol

Lol I love Si!
It took a lot for me to watch DD, I have always sworn off reality shows I really don't like them but some how duck dynasty drew me in! Of course didnt help having a fiance' who watches it almost daily, we've seen our fair share of rerun after rerun lately tho :eek:/ ..
I'm more into crime shows and crime documentaries LOVE them! So duck dynasty is far out of my realm! Lol but I love it and hope to score a really nice duck call for my S.O. For his birthday coming in June !!

Go to facebook and look like Robert Leighs Rhode Island Red . He really does a study and checks each bird. Puts them in pens by pairs and checks fertilty.does a study beforehand. He specializes in them. He is a great guy !

Great thanks! I will look into him!
I have hrir eggs in my bator from dick of horstman poultry. Almost all are developing nicely !

Questions, I hope someone can help. I candled yesterday which was Day 5. I was able to see veining in some eggs. Others seemed 'clear' but the shell was mottled looking when candling so it was difficult to see if anything was in there. Does the mottled shell prevent seeing clearly or is the fact that it looks clear mean it's a goner? Second question: Within this same egg the air cell is not readily available and but about an inch below where the air cell should be there is a dark 1/2 inch rim that does around the egg. What do you think about that type of egg. Third question: Can you always see the dark eye? The reason I ask is that at this 5 day candling the eye was obvious in some eggs but non existent in others. So this question is, can the chick be positioned so the eye is not visible at all?

If the shell is mottled and you can't see then try these eggs again later. The ones that were mottled and appeared 'clear' to me of my own are now visible enough to see some development. Make sure to have a good flash light, I use a 100lumen light. Also are these dark colored eggs or?

could be development, I had one I thought was a blood ring early on! Now is developing nicely and I have a dancin embryo.

Yep! I have a few that were like that, and some when moving will move away from the shell where I can't see them then pop back up to the shel where I can.

Im brand new to this to so take what I say with a grain of salt, these are just my own observations and what reading I have done. Don't worry to much, keep all eggs in until your day 14 candling or until they smell or if they are just obviously clears or blood rings with no further development.
