The 4th Annual BYC Easter Hatch-a-long

Morning everyone! Candled last night (halfway through day 11 for me) and out of 40 set, I found 3 clear and 2 questionables. The two looked to my very untrained eye to possibly be blood rings/early quitters. Everything else had something in them, but I have no idea if I have 30+ developing normally, or a bator loaded with dead embryos. Dark masses floating, but I could not see veins. My night vision is poor, though, and I only waited about five minutes in the dark to let my eyes adjust. We'll see!

Should be able to see veins by now, if viable. Yeah, I'd wait until you can get a better look. Good luck!

Tomorrow is lock-down for the first round of my staggered hatch. I have decided to take out some trays on my turner and put in a barrier so the chicks don't get tangled in it and hatch them in there with the eggs I set to hatch for Easter weekend turning away. God I hope this works. Esp after today getting a phone call at 5:30am that my box of 25 bantam EE and 2 bantam welsummer chicks were frozen to death in shipping from the hatchery. They didn't stand a chance in that flimsy box without a heat pad and more bedding. Poor babies. I ordered new EEs from another hatchery along with some bantam Belgian Bearded D'uccle chicks. Here's hoping they arrive in style early next week (right as I'm dealing with newly hatched babies of my own), I want a big brooder full for Easter, that is my one wish.

Ok, it looks a little better than it did, but you still can't see the feet. There are two blobs moving independently from each other and sometimes it it looks like you can see 4 feet.

Making Easter Deviled Chickie Eggs for a potluck at work tomorrow. I think they turned out awfully cute.

Pictures, quotes, stories, jokes, etc. The funniest will be judged by number of times it's quoted or how many people claim to have lost control of bodily functions laughing so hard. Ok just kidding, I will use a random number generator to select winners after we reach our goal!

NO "single" posting, has to be meaningful posts, short sentence forms and emoticons must at least be accomponied by a LOL! or a HA HA HA (If a single posting has been chosen it is void and another number will be chosen. Winners will be announced on the Thread The following day. (this gives time to sort!)

I'll ask the hubby tonight if there's a way to get rid of it. We've also been getting calls to our cell phones from D.C. WTH??? We're in Ontario & getting telemarketers from the U.S. harassing us??? We never answer them, but I did a reverse lookup & found out this company is calling lots of Ontario cell #s. Sheesh! (202) 407-3261 is the # to avoid!

Just got back from the post office with my chick order... but they are the wrong chicks. I have already figured it out with the hatchery and they were great and easy to work with, but I thought it would be fun if everyone guessed what they were. (although what the hatchery says they are and what i think they are is still different- so this will be a fun experiment)

I'd have guessed at Cream Legbars, but I've never seen Rhodebars or Bielethingies!
