Good morning hatchers..
Hurley,
what did you use to get the eggs those colors? They almost look like they have feet. How did you do that?

I just used some food dye, like for frosting and stuff. Had some from a sampler of cake frosting colors I picked up. Added dye and the whites to water, gave it a few minutes, and dried.

Making Easter Deviled Chickie Eggs for a potluck at work tomorrow. I think they turned out awfully cute. :)

LOVE them.. they turned out great. I will have to try that when I do some for Easter while my family is out. They all think I've lost my mind with all the chickens and ducks... wait till they see the rabbits

Hatch Day - 9

Kellogg's Corn Flakes

Dr John Harvey Kellogg was an American who, with his brother, invented corn flakes. While developing the brand, he gave up selling the cereal in sacks and started using boxes. He needed a logo for his Kellogg's Corn Flakes. His friend, Nancy Richards, was a Welsh hapist and suggested that Kellogg was similar to the name for a cockerel in Welsh (Ceilog), and therefore the logo should be a rooster. The cockerel is of course the herald of dawn and, by extension, breakfast. It is thought that the rooster was made red and green for Ddraig Goch, the Red Dragon of Wales.

So out of curiosity, what were you supposed to get?
i was supposed to get blue and black breda fowl. totally different looking chicks lol.
oh and the hatchery doens't sell welsummers so i doubt they are that breed. I think both rhodebars and bielefelders are on this site in the "breeds genetics and showing" tab. for the people who haven't seen them.

Broke open the three I marked as clears just now, and was greatly relieved to see that my noob candling skills were correct there. Almost cracked one of the questionables, but just couldn't bring myself to do it - will wait and see day 18...
