I now have 4 white faced black spanish chicks, i recandled the remaining eggs and we have 2 late quitters, and one who has just barely started pipping a few hours ago. hopefully that last one gets out soon or his siblings will be a full day older than he is! anyways here is a pic of them today

I've done a whoopsie

After laughing at all the attempts the people with 100+ eggs set took to count their eggs, I managed to mess up my puny few... I think I said I set 59... That must be the effect of chicken math before they're even hatched, because somehow, after removing 13, I have 50 left!

Thrilled, if embarrassed because of the above, though. 22 out of 24 are developing from shipped eggs!!! Never had such success! Had I known, I would have only ordered 6 of each, rather than 12. Goodness knows what I'm going to do with 22 Russian Orloffs

I was also expecting dismal results from my project eggs, but it would seem like the ladies let the cockerel have his way with them while we weren't watching (when we were watching, they'd scream blue murder). 26 out of 38 eggs are doing well

with 1 questionable. The last egg to make the round 50 is a test egg from my white araucana. It's a relief it's developing as she lays really soft shells. This is the only egg ever from her that hasn't smashed upon sight.

SO excited. When's hatched day? Is it here yet?

its funny too because the first day they were the laziest chicks i had ever seen- i kept thinking they were dead but nope... just lazy. now today they are full of energy!

OMG! I had a feeling those would be gorgeous chicks! Wowzers! Congrats to all those hatching too!
