Can we enter the contests if we are not participating in the hatch along? I just recently had 10 chicks hatch and I have 22 chickens now and I dont want to hatch more. I would love to participate I cant though. Hopfully sometime I can participate. I am asking '' Can we enter the contests if we are not participating in the hatch along?'' Because tomorrows random # generator sounds soooo fun!

Some contests are open to all BYC members and some are restricted to hatch-s-long members. The rules for the contest will tell you which ones you can enter.

There are plenty of contests on page 1 of this thread that are open to all of BYC, but I'm pretty sure the random post contest tom. night is only open to the hatchers. Check out page one though, cool prizes too!!

I now have 4 white faced black spanish chicks, i recandled the remaining eggs and we have 2 late quitters, and one who has just barely started pipping a few hours ago. hopefully that last one gets out soon or his siblings will be a full day older than he is! anyways here is a pic of them today

Daily Digest for 3-22-2013
Number 2 Busiest thread yesterday!(we just needed 8 more posts to beat the Washingtonians)

This is the point in the hatch that we are candling and tossing bad eggs. Lots of post about that today. We also discuss some fairly random things too!

Many have problems with Window 8. Others have ditched their laptops for iPads and Android tablets.

Thebirdguy posted a picture of a Lambian goat. Now lots of us want one!
Cornish Cross Chicks? Oddly, that picture makes me happy and hungry….
Michaelf has a sob that won a FFA competition. We found out later that it was a typo and should have been Son! Silly typos…

I forgot to mention it yesterday, but apparently with chicken math, you can have 9.6 chickens….We are still figuring out what that would look like…

Ozexpat then posted a Random Funny Post early that might help explain the 9.6 thing. Apparently a bird in France is in decline and needs our help. Probably the .4 part was in the voice box, so the poor thing sounds like it is farting when it sings the egg song.


Some think it must look like this.

Michaelf was the first to wish us Good Morning! Delisha lives in a cold place—going to warm up to double digits—I only see temps like that in my Freezer!

Sally Sunshine has an injured fluffy looking thing Some might think it is a rabbit. A new ramp will be built and we all hope the leg heals quickly!

There were contest updated for Short Stories and a Flapper Contest(Chickens flying, not 1920’s dancers) See post 5709 and 5710.

We are all hoping RedIII has a good hatch an finds the third one. Someone(chicken?) hid it.

Gardeningmama is having a late start on the forum. Kids are home early and birthday sleepover preparations are being made.

Chirpingcricket finished the hatch with 12 hatched! They are celebrating by eating Crawfish!

Angelobutter posted a picture of her 4 White Faced Black Spanish Chicks! They were lazy the first day, but they are Spanish! I bet they just needed a Siesta because now they are full of energy!

Time-Out counts funny. 59 were set and after removing 13, 50 are left. Chicken math or is someone playing a trick? What is going to hatch from those mystery eggs……
