How I felt trying to count eggs I was setting!

Well I was going to wait until lockdown to candle, but I have so many eggs with no place to put them, so I did what I could. Marans and Wellies.....Ya know, I'm blind and I just couldn't really tell on all but one FBCM egg and it's definately clear. Drats! I've been having problems with my LF AMs, so I kind of thought I'd be pulling themn all, but 2 actually look like there might be something in there. Really need a stronger mag or better batteries. Pulled 10 Blue AMs. SPPRs have been my other fertility problem, so pulled 10. 2 Langshuns and 1 OEGB were early quiters. 6 of my lavender egg projects were early quiters or definate blood rings. I saw others that I thought had quit, and then saw movement. Some that looked like early quiters or blood rings, but they had veining, so I put them back in just in case. So

10 Blue Ameraucanas
2 bantam Blue Langshuns
1 OEGB
6 Lavender Egg Projects
10 Silver Penciled Plymouth Rocks.

So 31 are out for sure and probably more at lockdown, but I saw inside of one Marans, just barely and it was moving. Haven't seen into one of those since before my husband died, so I was kind of juiced. LOL With the 3 I pulled last time I'm down 34 eggs, but I started with 151, so that's not too bad. That is if the ones I was iffy about are still doing ok. We'll see.

Morning from some what cold and dreary NH! snow still here... probably 30 degrees or so: maybe colder, the pup is walking "ON" the snow, not in it.

Took a few more eggs out of the bater last night... little frustrated, but realize my shipped eggs didn't have the best looking air sacs...

Have a wonderful day everyone! its maple sugar weekend here. headed out to one of the local farms in a little bit!

Got up in the dark this morning and found that it's snowing, and everything outside is white. Wha?? I love snow and colder weather, but I guess Winter didn't get the message that it's party is over............

Checked under my (very tolerant) broody and found the new chick all fluffed up and looking cute. It's a blondie <3 It was easier to see the eggs in the dark when I candled with a flashlight, and I removed the two that look like they've died. One I am not 100% sure on yet, so it's sitting in my incubator. Hey, if it's going to explode, I'd rather that it do it in there than under my broody girl!

Got another surprise this morning, too - The second egg that has developed quite a ways (the one I thought might be a few more days to hatch) was cheeping at me when I had the light on it! I could feel it moving in my hand, just like the first one when it had pipped internally. I'm now wondering if I may have a second chick sooner than I thought.

I've looked at all the hobby stores in our valley and can't find one! I could get one on the internet, but shipping is so expensive for such a small item! Does anyone either a) have any they could sell, or b) know how to make one?

woke up this morning and I have 4 external pips! I marked the air sacs when I candled right before setting and all the pips so far are in the air sacs! So excited. I have a full day so I'm hoping they rest a bit before they zip so I can watch one. I also heard a little peep.
