Quote: I revived one after seeing Mary's video last month. One of the little 2 day olds was out from under the eco glow, stiff and cold. I picked it up and there was a look like life still there, so I did those little chest rubs from the video and got him back into the incubator. An hour hater it was up and moving like nothing had happened!

Mary said: They are not dead unless they are warm and dead.
Awww...that's such a good feeling isn't it?

Yes!

It was a Blue Egg Layer from the UofA too!

I was one of the three that look like this:

Wow, don't get on fora couple days and there is no way to catch up! Had to build another brooder. High rise.
400

Three levels, each 2x4 feet with two dimmer controlled light sockets for temperature control per level. Two plexiglass and hardware cloth doors on each. See how it works. (yes I need a stool to teach the top, it is on a stand, so is about 7 1/2 feet high)

turn the volume down if you are working....don't want people to wonder where the rooster crow is coming from!

My sloo-ow internet connection won't let me view videos, but I could see that we use the exact same kitty litter bucket in exactly the same way. :D I soak my layer feed into a mash and lay the bucket down like that to let them "lick the bowl" after I fill the trough.

Does this look like spring!!!!!!!!!!!!

I have chicks that want to play outside and in their new pen, instead of being in the garage. I have winter blues and want to see some flowers

Okay that is it, I'm going to start spring today and plant some veggie seeds.

Here, I will share mine with you

It might be a scruffy brown Utah spring, but it's still spring, and the girls are enjoying it!

And here's Shirley getting a cuddle, just because I love the look on her face.

My surviving Icelandic chick, Vona!

that is actually her nesting box. she started to go broody on me shortly after she started laying eggs. i wanted to put her inside something covered in case it rained sideways (which is very possible in Louisiana). i left it on the ground so the chicks could crawl back into the nest with the hen. they make a good nesting box for bantams like her.
