Way to cute! My kids range from 13 to 20 (6 of them) crazy huh? A couple years ago I wanted more, yes i'm a glutton for punishment I guess.

My youngest of 6 turns 16 this year. I am suffering major empty nest syndrome, but I tell people that I'm filling it with chickens lol

Good move!!! This is what hit me! I was showing dogs then too, so I have no idea what I was thinking. I mean I love him to death, but he's got an old mom.

Listen carefully….Thousands of hatching eggs in the US and many other Countries are moving into position for hatching and have begun the hundreds of little pecks to make that first hole in the egg!

Happy Chooks has Pips! Rearranging for the new babies is happening today! Lericson has Duckies and chickies locked down! TnT Poultry has 18 locked down and a couple under a Muscovy Duck!

Misskeeter has a little chick that is a slow starter. Wry neck was discussed and treatments given. By the next day the little Guy or Gal was starting to do better. A video was posted in post 6667. Later she lost a silkie and the RIR chick. The rest are getting a dose of Baby Vitamins.

Noahsmom updated us on her hatch—10 have hatched!

Jesshan8 has 53 out of 76 set to hatch. Rarebear locked down 35 of 51! Was Myrtle locked down two hours early!

Shellz beat Michaelf to wish us a Good Morning!

RedBugPoultry removed a bunch of eggs but is happy about the hatch this weekend!

Chiques chicks has a surprise hatch—a two day early Bobwhite Quail! Maah has cheeping too!

WalkingOnSundhine is hatching with us by accident! Good luck with the home made incubator!

TMNfarm had an egg turner malfunction! Eggs are spilling out! What to do! Happy Chooks to the rescue! Get the other bator ASAP, move the eggs to it and fix the egg turner! The Turner was re attached to the motor but humidity dropped to 26%.

Sally Sunshine has a pip at the wrong end! Good thing she wrote a guide about that….

Jessshan posted a cleaning sticky chicks tip. Wet them with a wash cloth and then later posted a hatching update—19 pips!

Sueg4332 locked down 113 eggs! JD4570 locked down 32 of 42!

Michaelf was the first to post a Good Afternoon!

Gryeyes has a house pet chicken with a diaper. The Silkie lays eggs and goes broody and has hatched chicks in the house!

Myfivegirls has a pip! Leave it closed up—they will hatch fine.

NMNfarm is hatching for a friend—Easter present for the friend’s son! One has hatched!

lol..good one ron..as usual. Out of the bator, but..we can peek into that window!! And yes, I've been peeking, and peeking...........and listening.

Here is a sweet picture I took today..who knows what this is? I do..just wondered if anyone else does.

So, I'm thinking it's time to set up the brooder for any putative chicks. Sparkle and HER nearly 3-week old chicks "own" the usual brooder bin. I have a white bird cage I have set up for chicks before; it's been siting on top of a portion of the Family's brooder bin... but I've got time yet. <*yawn, stretch*>

New Broody Punkin came off her dog bed nest and RAN through the office to get outside (thank goodness) for her constitutional. She encountered Sparkle with her chicks and puffed up all screetchy "I'm broody!"

Sparkle responded with "I have CHICKS!" and the fight was on. I separated them, carrying Punkin out to the garden. Whilst out there, I hear the unmistakable sounds of a newly hatched chick - in the coop. I found a day old chick on the coop floor, with no Mama hen around. So I picked it up and presented it to each of the three broody hens in their nests in the coop; they looked at me like I was an idiot - "Can't you see I am setting on eggs here?"

Guess it was time to set up that cage brooder and just take NewChick indoors. In a couple of days, it should have some company.



I did try to see if Sparkle would accept it, but she didn't want it near her four chicks. Into the cage brooder it went.

Very pretty! I have no clue! Can't wait to find out.
