Chick is out, took a couple mins for us both (me and the chick) to work him out but he's now out! His right leg isn't working properly, I felt around on it for a moment and nothing seems abnormal. I seen him finally bend like he should so thinking maybe loss of circulation/asleep? Hopefully will be ok. His umbellical cord is still attached to a dried up piece of yellowish looking stuff.I haven't touched a thing but its completely dried, should I leave or ? Right now he's in the bator I'm sure enjoying being able to MOVE! I hope he makes it, he really fought hard for his life.
I think his/her feathers will remain for the most part gooey and may even dry hard, anything I can do for that? I know to let him/her rest now but I just don't want to inflict anymore pain if I can help prevent it.

My EE chicks have a few that appear to have Jersey Giant dad..
I thought the That roo was seperated from EE hens sufficent length of time!!
What is the recommend time of withdrawl from breeding roo....?
my Araucana roo did his job on most of the group!!!!

You need to wait 3 to 4 weeks. Sorry! There is a "theory" being repeated that the sperm is first in and first out. You have disproven the theory once again!

. The old timers sometimes did know what they were talking about.

Beautiful chicks!

My guess is gonna be faverolle

she kinda looks like my girl

Correct, you will not see them wiggle as much in cartons.
I hatch in cartons and I did have one pip the wrong end once. I didn't know and it passed.

I currently have one egg that made a crack in the egg instead of a pip. I've never had this happen, so I'll be watching it.

If there is reincarnation I want to come back as one of your pets!

My eggs are moving!! It's so cool!! I ended up with 10 out of 12 going into lockdown. One was clear, and the other one quit around 5 days. That's not too. Bad for a first timer. Now to see how many we will have hatch.

Nada here. No cheeps or pips....you guys are making me jealous.

I take it back. Just added a small rag because humidity was a little low and wanted to watch it before I left for work and low and behold if one of the olive egger eggs aren't pipped. Still couldn't get anyone to cheep at me though. What do you think the odds are that it will hatch in the next 30 min. So I fan watch?
Here I though we were in this together! Good luck with the babies!

Well great! Am I the only one with nothing going on?? Oh and woke up to both LGs with very little humidity, so hopefully I'll still get some from them. Especially since I used them for my most important eggs. :( I used them for all of the Wellies and most of the darkest Marans eggs. I hear nothing, I see nothing. Typical Kim participation for the big hatches. One chick, just one and I'm good.

Ok here is my status as follows:
76 eggs set
3 blood ring/quitters
20 clear
53 made it to lockdown 45 in the bator and 8 I gave to a persistent broody last Monday

45 bator eggs 8 broody eggs
5 currently externally pipped ? (I know most have hatched just not sure all have)
3 late quitters
1 died after hatching
36 hatched and in the brooder
93.33% hatch rate thus far (for the bator) ? hatch rate thus far

One of my personal bests so far....we shall see how I fare with all eggs accounted for.
will post pics for verification purposes later.

Don't be nervous yet. Some chicks hatch early, some right on time, and some chicks hatch late. All is perfectly normal. What you're seeing now are from people that set before the 9th, or are from chicks that are just hatching early. Most aren't due until tomorrow. Remember there were over 7000+ eggs set... and many of those have not started yet. The estimated "due date" is tomorrow... but can last well into Wednesday.

The wait is the hardest part, I know!

I set my eggs at 12 PM march 9th they are beginning to hatch 2 out others are pipped.

Yay cute Favs! Mine aren't bantams or anything, but I luv them!

Ignore Luna's dirty beard. She's a messy eater *tisk*

Thank you Happy Chooks! Poor little guy. It's amazing what they can do with a little egg tooth! I will go plant something in the garden to distract me...I want to sit sit sit and watch watch watch, but it's going to be a while :). This is very good for teaching me patience.

Well ... 9 chicks have hatched and 9 more have pipped.

The temp keeps spiking to 100 - 101, and the hatched/dried chicks start panting when it does. Also, when the new chick hatched, the humidity spikes to 80% or more. So, I've been opening it for a second to remove the extra heat & humidity. It then stays within the acceptable range for awhile. I have all the plugs out, and I don't want to overheat the chicks. Is that okay? Plus, I use that second to remove any empty egg shells, so the chicks have more room to explore.
