I'm sooo sorry I didn't get back here to post my hatch!

I meant to - I really did!

I got 15 beautiful fuzzybutts to successfully hatch! They're gorgeous!

So cute, enjoy them!

Put some warm water in a container. When it settles, place your non-pipped egg in the water. If it just floats steady, there is most likely nothing alive inside. A live chick will make the egg bob from side to side in the water almost immediately. I couldn't imagine it. I'd stare at eggs and try to decide if I saw movement. Then I actually got one that was alive, there is no mistaking it. The movement is decisive. As an added bonus, within an hour the egg had pipped, I don't know if it was the extra moisture.
Thank you for the information! My first hatch I didn't know to look for an internal pip, but with this 2nd hatch, I wasn't so quick to give up on the eggs. I had 2 eggs hatch on day 24, one had shown movement when candling, and the other one had not. This next hatch I will add the float test to the candling. Thanks again! Theresa

How Many of you Add Charcoal to your Pens or Yards for the birds

I do its a great way to detox the birds if they by chance eat poison or get some bad sour tummies ,crops, or ?

What i do is put in a burned log Of cource its cold LOL but if the birds need the coal they eat it and i also found out it helps the digestive system

My roommate found this out and has been Burning my toast since LOL Tammy
NOW I KNOW WHAT TO DO WITH MY BURNED LOGS THANKS

Wolf-- love the picture, very professional! Must be that new phone!!
I usually open the egg at the air cell end, shine in a light and look for movement. OThers like the float test. I do this about 2 days after due date. Before that I can candle looking for internal pip and assist if needed. I'm sure someone will explain the float test-- I"ve not done it.
AWWWWWW SOOO CUTE

This 4th Annual BYC Hatch-A-Long was the BEST EVER!    A huge THANK YOU to everyone who helped out and participated!

We need to especially share our appreciation to our very own moderator team member happy chooks for the AMAZING amount of time and effort she put into this project.  She (with the help of some other very amazing members like Sally Sunshine, mlmddh, and others) has done an incredible and almost super-human job at managing this super fun event and related contests.

To happy chooks on behalf of myself, the BYC community, and thousands of baby chicks all over the world, I say:  :thumbsup

Please join me in saying "Thank You" to happy chooks by either sending her a PM or just quoting this post and adding your own thoughts of appreciation!
