Boy, this was really, really hard to choose, but the winners of the 2013 Easter Hatch-a-long "Create a Chicken Tiara" Contest are:

Sally Sunshine for her Hen Tiara and momo18clara for her Rooster Crown!

Congratulations!

They each win a full year's Golden Feather Membership!

Just seeing this! Congratulations you two!

We are working on how best to keep track of everyone. We'll have it up soon.

This 4th Annual BYC Hatch-A-Long was the BEST EVER!    A huge THANK YOU to everyone who helped out and participated!

We need to especially share our appreciation to our very own moderator team member happy chooks for the AMAZING amount of time and effort she put into this project.  She (with the help of some other very amazing members like Sally Sunshine, mlmddh, and others) has done an incredible and almost super-human job at managing this super fun event and related contests.

To happy chooks on behalf of myself, the BYC community, and thousands of baby chicks all over the world, I say:  :thumbsup

Please join me in saying "Thank You" to happy chooks by either sending her a PM or just quoting this post and adding your own thoughts of appreciation!
Thank you so much. I had so much fun and learned so much along the way! Not only am I addicted to chickens and hatching but now hatchalongs! Thanks again

One quick question. before this thread ends.
how do you count the percentage of any hatch.
# 1 all eggs set
# 2 all fertile eggs set
Is there a proper way to measure it.
Like your left hand is always the same hand no matter which way your facing.
Just curious

Since there's no way to know what was fertile & what just didn't start without cracking open every egg I usually go off of number set just because I don't take lime to open every egg. Some people do take that time & count only the fertiles. Depends on your preference I guess.

You need to contact the State wildlife dept. You can get a permit to have it. It will cost you each year. Since it is an egg, I am not sure if you can keep that. They are protected birds. The state vet also has to be notified, and you will need to pay them a fee as well.

Or you can hatch it & turn it loose when it's old enough. But I think you still need to let the wildlife people know you are doing it.
