Oh my goodness, my cockerel crowed for the first time, then second, then third! I have never had a rooster. Now, when will this boy start making fertilized eggs? He is just over 5 months old is all. He isn't acting like I've heard roosters act, like sharing food..he's a pig. He runs off with the treats so the others won't get it. lol..I think it may be a while yet before he is a real rooster.

Just for future refrence don't use the same sand again it will hold bacteria really well. Some people are anti sand and chickens at all because of this. Popcorn or those dehydrating packs you get in cloths or shoes should help.
You can dye it blue if it does not need to go back in. It looks ok to me but im not an expert. But blu kote or the like will stop the picking.
I have blu kote. I just wondered if it would burn putting it there? Doesn't it have alcohol in it?

I don't think Im going to use sand at all once these hatch. I'll try shaving or something. But the sand just doesn't do it for me
