Is it possible to "tractor" ducks with the chickens or does it get too hard when keeping a container of water for them to play in inside the tractor run? Am I being clear as mud?

So far we tractor around our 6 chickens in the front yard, small though. No way we could fit ducks in there so we are thinking of making a larger tractor coop/run with big wheels to deal with the swampy GA lawn issue. But will keeping a kiddy pool or what not for the ducks in such a thing I think it might be hard to get in there and dump the pool every night and refill where ever we move it the next morning and so on, not to mention add to the swamp (sinking in it when you walk) issues. We are trying to keep the grass nice!

The other option is to clear some land, not a lot of room there, on the side of the house and make a permanent coop/pen. It is closer to the property line though and might it get smelly?

(4 ducks and 4 bantams would be in it)

You actually don't need a kiddie pool for the ducks. As long as they have a deep enough bowl to dunk their heads and clear out nostrils.

I have 3 khaki cambells that only get a deep bowl.
About once every two weeks I will fill the pool up halfway to let them have a swim and play, but immediately they poop in it and it becomes yuck. So I leave it up or a day or so, then dump it n the back of our property. We also have swamp yard here in PA. Ill show u pics of my set up

I'm sure plenty of people do it, but my opinion is that if you do your chickens will never enjoy fresh water again, lol! My Calls are penned separately, but when they escape they make a beeline for the chicken water, and promptly empty every bit of it, and leave muddy sludge in the bottom. That's just my experience.

I would ssuggest a separate pen but make sure it has very good drainage. Ducks love to play in mud & will soak your chickens.

My calls are actually the only ducks I can house with the chickens without absolute mess. I have 6 in with 5 turkeys & 26 chickens. I keep 6 feed bowls & 4 water bowls in with them. Waterers are 2 of the huge rubber horse pans (calls swim in these), a 6 inch deep 3 gallon tub (calls drink from it but don't climb in) & a 1 foot deep 3 ggallon tub that the calls can't reach but everyone else can. Th 2 shallow pans are dirty very fadt. The lower tub doesn't get quite as bad & the tall tub stays fairly clean. My anconas would climb into the tall tub, that's why they are penned with the geese at night & run the yard during the day. I have 2 small kiddie pools for them. 1 in the pen & 1 against the outside fence. Both are always filthy.
