I'll hatch with everyone again this year! I just got two new thermostatically controlled incubators so maybe my hatch rates will be better than last year. not sure what I will hatch yet, most likely a wide assortment of whatever eggs I find on ebay last minute lol
Is there a thread where people can buy eggs timed to ship/arrive specially for this hatch? that would be pretty neat since ebay sellers aren't usually as accommodating on shipping schedules as I like.

I'm so in. I have a bator full right now, but I plan to reset right away when they hatch a couple days into March and that will free up the bator for set on the 29th. Yay!. Planning to hatch Belgian D'uccle Mille Fleur bantams and "rainbow" egger bantams (blue, green and pinkish tan with colorful feather variations). Wishing for bantam Welsummer or other dark brown bantam layer eggs to hatch, but don't have much money to spend and am shy on shipped eggs. Anyone near Minneapolis have any?

I'm doing the "hatch and reset" too! Same day actually! Once all the babies hatch, I''m cleaning and resetting.

Okay all you Super Hatchers, I need some expert advice. I had some sort of bacterial growth in the hatcher this last batch. It started smelling horribly after 24 hours. The eggs hatched, and some were mushy chicks. All the ones that hatched have recovered on their own. There was a orange-ish brown growth on the bottom and under some of the eggs. I have scrubbed the hatcher (a still air stryro-bator) with a scrub brush and anti-bacterial soap, I sprayed the bottom, and wiped the top with 2 parts clorox and one part water, and I let it air dry out in the sun all day today. I threw away the shelf liner that I used in the bottom and the sponges that regulated the humidity. Is there anything else I need to do? I need to put the next batch in tomorrow for lockdown, but it could wait another day.

I would not think there is anything else you can do. I use strait Clorox bleach and let it air dry a couple of days. Good luck on your next hatch.:)
