Just went to go gather eggs also.. Not as many as I was expecting. Have been letting them out to free range, think they may be hiding a nest. Problem is with 10 1/2 acers it is hard to look in every little place... Will have to go back out and try again. Not really what I wanna do when I feel like crap but gotta do what we gotta do. Ate two cloves of garlic earlier, was told it might help... Oh congrats to everyone who's birds finally started laying.~~ cutting it close aren't they!.. :)

Quote: I put a lot of effort into breeding the Olive Egger I have now...well, I didn't do the work but I had to make the pen to get the ma with the right roo and such, and incubate those eggs to get 1 OE. I waited forever for that egg, and wasn't disappointed, the egg was a pretty olive. I was so proud of myself

. Then I get 4 EE's, and wait to see what colors I'll get from them. I got an icy blue/green, a pink, a bright blue....and the exact shade of Olive I worked so hard to achieve, lol!

Last year I donated a mug...a chicken addict mug. It was soo easy, I found the link of what I wanted, and then had it shipped to the winner. I think this year I'll do something like that again, and a GFM. The contest was soo much fun. I made sure every person I knew, including my own family, would not disturb me for that 3 hours that night. I prepped ahead of time stock piling funny jokes and images in a folder. And when it started...I didn't move! My eyes hurt by the end, but it was seriously the best time!!!!!! Lots of winners...in 3 hours time. If you're dedicated, you'll probably win a couple of times. I'm really excited for this years!

I am hatching for a local breeder. We are hatching by hen so they are separated into Beef Steak tomato containers. I think they should be called Beef Steak Dorkings!

This is three from group W33:

Thank you. It is just a cold, but it is kicking my butt. Momma being down when there are four kids needing things is not good. I did good all winter till now. (Go figure)

You need to make them using UofA Blues and Partridge Penedesencas!

This is an OE from the UofA x Partridge Pene cross:

Cream legbar X Penedesenca makes a nice OE too.

The problem with EEs is not knowing if they have double blue egg shell genes.

I have four types of OEs now

Marans X EE
Crele Pene x Cream Legbar
a parne cross of Pene x cl back to cl
UofA Blue X Partridge Pene.

capayvalleychick has some of the best SG Dorkings I have seen yet!

They are very pretty!  those olives are to die for too!!

OHHHHH how cute!!!!    you can do this one for the celeb lookalike with Godzilla!!  I love featherfooted birds period!!

cool!

Berks PA

so do the pullets get the upper back feathering first like a brahma???  congrats!!

Yes,I am not that experienced raising true reds. But in my experience these feather sex easily.

I ordered eggs but I think I am going to fill up the rest of the bator with my own as well. Don't have great luck with shipped eggs and definitely want some to hatch, so I will be giving some chicks away.

Love to see what some of the breeds will give me. So I will have an interesting time seeing what hatches.
