The 5th Annual BYC Easter Hatch-a-long!

This is my first time ever... I am trying to hatch some eggs from Lavender Ameraucana eggs. My hen is broody ( I think) and have 7 eggs to put under her. I am nervous. I really want this to work.

Can we get a broody roll call?

I have one right now, and two more "practicing" but returning to the roost at night. Those two are proven broody hens but just aren't there yet this go 'round.

Do I just post on this thread how many eggs I set or do I pm somebody?

I have one broody Lavender Ameraucana, though I really don't want her to set. Been trying to break her for 3 days, but she is determined.

Set this evening, 6pm for the shaken and abused CCL eggs.



Here's the tray ---^.

Final count:
21 Iowa Blues from the A flock (pure silvers)
13 Iowa Blues from the B flock (mixed silver/charcoal/birchen)...hubby ate some of these, so had fewer than I anticipated. LOL
12 CCL shipped eggs

Tray marked and ready to roll.



OK, is it hatch time yet?




LOL, actually it is. I can hear peeping in the hatcher, looks like the first two "Iowacana" F1s have hatched out with a slew of Iowa Blues and "Iowacana" chicks due to hatch tomorrow.

UPDATE ON THE new CABINET COOLER BATOR!!
DOING AWESOME!!!

We took out the black coded eggs that are on day 16 and put them into one of our reg coolerbators to hatch out, as we need room to set for the Easter Hatchalong! these are now in the reg cooler......due to hatch Wednesday.



We filled up two trays and added them to the CABINET COOLER BATOR (I need to make another Cabinet cooler when the girls are back on laying track!)
ANYONE see anything WRONG With this image?????
NOTE to self, don't accept help from DH when adding eggs to the incubators!!! HA HA HA he is soooooo lucky I picked up on it!

WOW look at all those pretty eggs!!!! Pointy end up!? LOL did DH to that? At least that's what I think I see at the top.

We have four broody serama!!! they were all put in cages today to break them of it since they have given no eggs for days!! ughhhh

I set 27 eggs. Thought I was only going to have 24 but the ladies decided to give me more than usual. 2 Hamdan eggs and the rest standard hens. This is my homemade bator. Had to reposition the site so I could fit more eggs in it. It's given me 3bsuccessful hatches

I just got 2 dozen eggs today, and then happened to see this thread just in time! I want to Hatch-a-long! Easter babies sounds so cute, not to mention fun!
