I set 40 eggs (marans, orps, sexlinks, ameracuanas, olive eggers) early saturday morning, just havent been near a computer to post on this thread. I am super EXCITED!!!! This is my first attempt at hatching eggs and I built my own incubator. Crossing my fingers and hoping for the best.

BTW today is day 7 for my Calls and I have 12 going strong. I am slightly worried about air cells though. The ones that were shipped detached are much bigger than my homegrowns. Wondering if I should start misting them daily now?? Any advice?
Misting the eggs daily is good for the eggs but it does the opposite for the air cell. Misting encourages evaporation and is something you do to make the air cells bigger:

I opened the door to the coop this morning at 6 to let everyone out and then I went back to check on my broody hen at about 9:30 to see if she had left the nest to eat anything. When I got outside I saw feathers everywhere but not blood. I couldn't figure out what happened because everyone was out there that should have been. I went to the coop after the outside head count to check on my hen and something had gotten her and in the process crushed 5 eggs. I grabbed the other five and they were cold. I decided to bring them inside and put them in the incubator even though I don't have much hope that they'll make it. After bringing the eggs inside, I went back outside to clean up the mess in the coop and put all the chickens back in the coop, but when I got there I saw more feathers. I looked around to see who it was this time and in the back of the field behind my house I saw a fox reach the wood line with my favorite rooster in his mouth.

Hopefully the rescued eggs should be fine since it isa very early in incubation. I have had eggs that got cold do just fine as long as it wasn't a super long time.

Has anyone ever hatched Ancona ducks? I have 2 on day 25 and just got a call from home saying one is dancing around. Is that normal?
I think you have a duckling working on getting out, or into position. Ducklings do take their sweet time hatching though. Not the same pip and zip as chicks. Be patient.

Unknowingly I set mine on Saturday march 29th . Sooooo I guess I am in the hatch along
Great, how many did you set?
