Speaking of ducklings, I just put 7duck eggs in my bator today.. They could be Pekin, a mallard looking duck, a crested, or a mix... I really don't know... :)

Quote: I used a plastic cooler as I already had it. A stryofoam would be just as good, just done use all the jars of water. Perhaps build a base from light weight material that is fireproof. Empty aluminum cans maybe. Only cost me the WHT, and bottle lamp kit. AND TIME!!

I WIGGLE TESTED MY FIRST EMU EGG TODAY...AND IT WIGGLED!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! THERE'S A LIVE LITTLE EMU GROWING IN THE EGG AS I TYPE!!!

Love it--- I've learned to go back later WITHOUT DH. THese duckling are the cutest color.

I love the way they "wubble" you on the face when you hold their faces close to yours. Sometimes it hurts (pinches) a little if they get your bottom lip!
Oh WIsher-- you play with them? Of course you do!! lololololol

Yes, I can be an old softie for babies. I have only had two ducklings. One died at three weeks and the other became a big ol' pet. She was so sweet. She had a rough life. First a raccoon broke into her coop and chewed one of her wings off. Then, she was taken by a predator while trying to woo a rooster at the chicken coop. Bless her. I brought home two call ducks from the Ohio Nationals, but they were adults and not near as friendly and I re-homed them to a teenager that came to buy chicks. There's not many baby animals that are cuter or more cuddly than a duckling.

I have to agree! Ducklings are so much fun! I can't wait for mine to hatch.. Oh, my duck eggs, I took them out of the refrigerator.. read a post where some people had done this with good results so I thought I would give it a try.. :)

Good luck-- worth a try.

I have a number of ducks here-- started with 3 ( still have those 3) , their children and granchildren, too. SO darn cute. THey fly around, searching for a good landing pad, as snow is piled everywhere here. Usually a skidding halt involving a chicken. Oopps.

Talk to Sally about Serama eggs (possibly) or BHep. I had Seramas, but decided to part ways with bantams for LF. I miss them though

I agree..Henipede!

Quote: Ummm.... I'm 38 and I still want to be Strawberry Shortcake. I live vicariously through my 4 year old. I buy her all of the SS toys, and she could care less BUT I still get to walk by and pick up a doll and smell that wonderful hair. Takes me right back to being a kid again. I do the same thing with Cabbage Patch Dolls.

I am more excited about your hatch than my own.

You should set up a hatch cam for it!
