Sounds fun I'm in.

Reyvaughn I've been using those this year too, and I like them - they will make an indentation in the leg if you don't change soon enough, but much more forgiving than zip ties.
I just bought some leg bands at Premier1 and they look fairly easy to put on and take off. They come in many sizes and colors and are numbered. Snap on and off. I have not used them yet.

Question about broodies. One of my hens sat all day yesterday, growling at anyone that got too close. She stayed there when it was time to go to bed. But this morning, she was hanging out at the door with the others, ready to be let out to eat. She stayed off the nest for a good hour after she was let out (I don't know how long she'd been waiting by the door), but then returned and is again sitting all day growling at everyone. Does that seem like a really long time to be off the nest? Per advice here, I was going to give her my eggs if she stayed on the nest two nights in a row, but now I'm not sure.
For the first few days that I noticed Rumples going broody.. she did the same thing. She would go out in the morning... brood for about 8 hours and then go back just before dusk. On Sunday the 30th she was full bore on the broody. She only gets off the nest once a day Around 11-12 for 20 minutes to eat, drink and poop. She also flaps... fluffs and explodes around the pen like a crazy hen!!
