I cant stress how important and how much a difference double boxing makes with shipped eggs!

Its a shame for this box.

I will again throw out ozexpat letter to egg shippers!
please ASK how you wish your eggs chosen, packaged and shipped!
Freshness DOES COUNT for the best hatch results, the size of the air cell will tell you how old your eggs are! Ask for only 2-3 day old eggs when shipped! SEE LETTER....

Letter is always in the Hatching 101 article

Collection & Storage of Eggs
Sources for eggs are to search the BYC buy sell trade section, Craigslist and eBay. Your local thread on BYC may be the best bet for local eggs!
Look for your local site in the “Social section” “Where am I? Where are You!” on BYC. &

double boxing is great but I use priority b boxes so unless someone just wants 9 eggs that fit in the smaller box that can go inside they are single boxed
however I use large bubble wrap on the top bottom and sides. each egg is in a 3x7 bubble wrap pouch.
I have only had 1 egg broke in all my shipments.

Now I would still like to double box and there are other free boxes from Usps that I can try out and see if they fit but not being double boxed is not the end of the world if done correctly. Correctly is the key. I am shipping some eggs Monday I will post a picture of the box sunday night so everyone can see what I am talking about.

We don't have a maple syrup evaporation pan we use regular large pots so Im not sure what the time difference would be to do it "correctly". But for us using the largest pots we have in the house it takes roughly 7 hours to boil down 6gallons of sap that is from start to finish, including bottling the syrup and clean up. 6 gallons of sap gives us roughly 20oz of syrup give or take a few oz.

We are very new at syrup making, we have only done 2 batches so far. This weekend will be batch 3.

Hope everyone's day goes well..happy Sat. Are you working or playing today? I'm doing a bit of both.

These hatched the past 2 days. These are the first 24. 26 hatched out of 32 in lockdown & 39 total set. Lost 1 during hatch. 5 eggs still in the bator doing nothing but will give them an extra day just in case. I had 6 sold & out the door before the last 2 chicks were even dry...lol
Oooo..is this what I'll be getting? I'm wanting another pretty blue out there. Between you and Arielle, I just may get me one.

I've been waiting a looong time to post this one!!! Goodbye Winter...Hello Spring!

Oh, this picture does get ones hope up..come on spring. Can you believe it's daylight savings already? They set the time change last year..makes it longer.. :D I don't mind a bit. Arizona is missing out. Guess they don't know the difference if they aren't doing this though.

I'm sure this has been covered somewhere here, but I don't have the time to go through all 159 pages of this thread!

I plan on setting some Pekin eggs for this hatch (as well as chicken). I know that I have to start the ducks earlier, but here's my question:

Temp/humidity...is it the same for Pekin eggs? Also, do I turn them like I do the chicken eggs?

THanks!!!

Where have I seen you lately? Another hatch a long..Feb/March? Your face looks soo familiar.

Problem: my runs are in ruins and I have to keep my chickens in for a while because of the hawk attack. Hubby is working today. My solution: cover all holes with nailed down blankets...even put a blanket up in place of the gate that is solidly frozen in the ground. Thought you might get a kick out of these pics to show just how dilapidated it's gotten. Oh, and I cleaned out my fridge and cupboards to make a treat for them to curb their boredom.
