I just put in another batch of turkey eggs and some mutt ducks. This is my 3rd time trying to hatch Narragansett turkeys. Last two times I've set around 16-17 eggs and only had 2 hatch. The first ones suddenly died at about 3 week. Of the two two that just hatched, one of them has been wobbly from the start and looks like it's not going to make it. I'm hoping third times the charm.

I'm going to gather more turkey eggs to hatch out for the hatch along to, but I don't know if my marans are going to give me any. They suddenly stopped laying so I might need to buy chicken hatching eggs if I don't want to hatch out mutts.

Temps in the incubator need to be verified with a really good thermometer.

My guess is that temps are off and incubation occurred at too low of a temperature.

I've hatched out quail eggs and chicken eggs in the same bator at the same time and they have hatched out fine. It's just turkey eggs that don't hatch well. I have a hovabator genesis and it's always been really good at holding temp. I've heard that turkey eggs are really sensitive. I'm more worried that I didn't keep the humidity steady enough.

The next cause is Humidity and then Ventilation.

Are they in an egg turner? If They are sensitive, you might consider hand turning them and make sure they are not incubating in a place that has vibrations.

The standard egg turner that the Genesis uses is not the most gentle of turners. I often hear mine clicking as it moves from side to side.

I hope those Turkey eggs hatch this time! Those are amazing Turkeys too.

The first Ancona from my flock has hatched! I hatched my parent stock last spring from eggs from [@=/u/120502/sarasweatman]@sarasweatman[/@]. The babies hatching now are the first from those babies. Sara, your duckies have a grandbaby!!!

That is so exciting! Congrats. Mine have started laying like crazy!

I bought a trio of delawares to get some eggs for the hatch along but i think they are eating their eggs because i see them setting in their nest box then i go check later and nothings there. Today i put a golf ball in the nest and they attacked it immediately. Is there any ways to stop them from doing this???

How long ago did you bring the trio home? Some times it takes a few weeks for them to start laying again.

Last week. They both layed the first day when i got them but they had already cracked their eggs and i think it started when they figured out what was in the egg.
