crazy4chicks.. I have to add, that I am in Utah..I love, love getting eggs from MO. and the mid states. At least for me, from that area to here, I have great luck on hatches. Not sure how the shipping would be from there to you, but I can say that it is good from there to here. Just a thought.

Shipped eggs do better if they can get to you via truck in two days. Further and they have to go by Airborne. The transfer from USPS to Airborne and then back to USPS is where the boxes drop into bins.

I know, I hate the thought of the bins.

I did just have a pretty decent hatch rate though, from Cal. Took 3 days. 7 babies from 12 eggs.
Are the folks you are thinking about closer to this person looking for eggs? Go truck!

My experience has actually been the opposite. The trucked eggs were much more jostled than the Airborne.

Yep. these are from last fall she was about 5 mos old. I will try to get a better one this weekend.

Setting some silkie eggs tonight. I want that nice white, I want that nice blue splash. I had a nice white and blue splash once upon a time. Have been trying to get one as nice since.

I have gotten very fast at checking for Pasty butt! Still 1200 chicks would be outrageous....

Just make a preemptive strike and smear the butts with mineral oil from the get go.
