Good morning. So far I have hatched 10 chicks unfortunately I came home to a beautiful chick that died. It looked so healthy too. The chick that hatched yesterday morning did not look very good when I placed in the brooder so I put him in a separate container because of the other running around in the brooder.. At that time I noted one that thatched first was breathing rather hard. It ended up getting in with the recently hatched box. It passed overnight and the other is not going to make it.

I had one in the hatched overnight and he is in the brooder now. He seems to be pretty strong. The others seem to want to pick on him but he picks back. I have one that is trying to hatch now. If it makes it I would have had 11 chicks hatched. I think that is the end of this hatch. Nothing else is happening. I feel successful in my first hatch but it is a sad success with the lose of three. Sorry for the downer this early in the morning.

Congrats to the Emu hatch. I was too distressed last night to watch it but I did peak in and it as facinating. Thank you for sharing.

Good Morning Everyone.

I woke up to 3 newly hatched chicks, 2 OE and 1CL. Another CL is zipping right now and I have about 4-5 other pips.

I still have the emu cam on here at my house too. That bird is to darn cute.

These eggs were in the new Cabinet Cooler incubator! a week before hatch! so far so good!

We have 3 Lavs and a female CCL out!!

and the serama are popping out like popcorn several more to go!
Always a wonderful hatch from Harmonys eggies!!

I have a hatching question for all you pro's. I took the fan out of my Hova Bator 1602 (it was a computer fan I bought online), I had it installed the wrong way (I think), and was having some issues with my hatches. So I decided to take it out and go still air. I got some extra thermometers, in case temp was part of my issue. I have 2 digital thermometer/hydrometer combo's and 1 probe in a "water wiggler". I know with still air you want the temp to be 102. So do I want the wiggler temp to be 102, or 99.5?
lizanne, your wiggler SHOULD tell you internal temps, in any incubator you want "internal temps 99.5" that is in which they have found the embryo to do the best with

here goes my catch-up response...

Kismet - im actually right on the border of Vermont =) in Sullivan County. My username is Maineiac because i was born and raised in Maine so im a Maineiac at heart.

Ozexpat - we have spare PC fans so we will probably add one of those if its recommended. thank you for that, we werent sure if one of those would work but cant even find a fan to price out.

Pickitfarm - thanks for the link! im going to read up. but glad to know the incubator works =)

Sally Sunshine - thank you for so many links! i dont want to spend any money on someone elses eggs if i dont have any experience hatching, so might as well use my own. i mostly have easter eggers and those are perfect for an easter hatch a long! and they are pretty sought after around here if i dont keep them.

Chicken Pickin - hello! i like meeting people from NH here, its easier to find poultry without shipping or long drives! haha by the way, for those of you in southern NH or VT (around Springfield or even White River Jct) im looking for Cayuga ducklings, turkey eggs or chicks (?) and some Tolbunt Polish chickens if anyone around has any ;) or eggs of those once im comfortable with hatching on my own =)

thanks to everyone else for the welcome =)
